SE roof rack

I was looking at 06/07 SE 4Runners' round roof racks. While at a dealership lot, I grabbed the racks to see how secure they were. To my surprise, the round bars seemed to flex quite a bit. So I decided to compare it to the non-round racks of the other 4Runner models. The non-round racks seemed stronger and more secure (they had no visible flex when I pulled and pushed on them).

Are the SE round roof racks rated for the same weight as the non-round roof racks? The flexing when I pulled on them did not give me a secure feeling.

[I even went around to other Toyota models with roof racks.....I found all of them to feel more sturdy than the SE 4Runner rack.]

the roof racks should have a max load sticker somewhere on the outside running rail. The Tacoma dbl cab is 70 pounds evenly distributed.

It is listed in the manual, I think it's 150 lbs (non-tube rack).

Answering my question with a question? :
I'd like to purchase a large Thule or Yakama roof box and actually carry cargo in them.

I sure hope the tube-type rack is also rated at 150 lbs.
My wife's CRV's rack is only rated at 75 lbs, which I found out is not enough to hold a cargo box AND cargo.

I ask because the round rack just doesn't feel as rugged. It "looks" strong, but it doesn't feel as strong when you apply force to it.

The round rack on my brother-in-law's new Pathfinder feels much stronger (it doesn't flex at all). It makes me think that Toyota cheaped out and used a thinner gauge metal on the SE rack (but I hope this is not the case.)

its just a curoius question, as to why you are concern, no hidden sarcasm.

the manual that came with my 4runner SE says, on page 325, "Do not exceed 54Kg (120 lbs.) cargo weight on the roof luggage carrier."
