I just recenly traded in my 02 Explorer for a 03 4Runner. Part of my reasoning was all the transmisson problem with Explorers. Part of the problem was the sealed transmissions and Ford's claim of 150,000 fluid changes. After doing some research here I found out Toyota is doing the same thing. 
I bought the 4Runner anyway knowing that it is 10 TIMES the vehicle my old Exploder was. After I brought the 4Runner home I naturally was peeking around the engine compartment and was happy to find a trans fluid dipstick!!! Better yet the fluid was in great shape for 74,000 miles. What year did Toyota go to the sealed trans?
