This is an awesome site, but one gripe I have is the number of threads that are so completely redundant. :bash:

People use the search button, read other threads or look in other forums before posting. :cursin:

How do I search for the search button?

Do you mean you don't like responding to threads titled...

"What's the best motor oil of all time?"

"What's the best tire for driving through cow dung?"

"What's the best underware for sliding out of control on ice, downhill towards an 18-wheeler heading straight for you?"

... over and over and over and over and...

Actually, it is messed up. I search for things and the search only goes back for a month or two.

I done a few write ups on how to fix things and when people ask, I try to give them the link, but since the search engine is not working, I can't find it.

Example, I did a write up on the "rubber door seal". I just typed that in and there were no threads showing. :cursin:

You're negating yourself by even making this thread. The appropriate actions would either a. gripe to the moderators, not the general public, or kindly suggest it in the coming instances. do you part man, keep it positive...after all...its not THAT bad
 
broken search

i'd like to second perter78's post. i can't get any search results older than november.
i think we probably have to put up with redundant posts until the moderators can find out what is wrong with the search function.

Excellent point. I know it may be annoying to see such posts, but J money is right on the money. Hah

To followup on this, another way is to check for links to past threads in the posts in the sticky threads at the start of the individual forum sections.

Maybe we can create some more catch-all stickies with more links while we fight with the search function?

I agree.

I think we should have a sticky for common problems for 3rd Gens.

I actually started a thread like this at one point for this exact intention. Surprisingly there were very few responses and the thread quickly made its way deep into the archives.

On another note, while it does get old sometimes to see the same topics posted, you don't have to click on them so I don't really so why it is so annoying to read something and then just pass over it. Personally it's nice to see some things get brought back up every now and again.

Find your thread and bump it, then ask the mods to make it a sticky.
