Search Feature saved me from breaking something.

I just installed a new head unit on my 95 T4R SR5, and the rear speakers weren't working, so I used this wonderful feature on this site called, "The Search button" and wow did it save my life..... Now all 6(I think, idk if the tweeters are present in the sound bar in the back, or if it's just for show...) of my speakers are working!!!! Thanks to all who have provided such useful information on this site!!!!!! This site is a life saver. :guitar2: :drummer:

Was your blue wire not connected to the power antenna wire. Mine was doing the same thing due to PO had intalled a head unit and I was wondering why they wired some more wires to some 4" sitting in the cargo area. When I was running my wires for the off road lights I found that not connected.

Hmmm. None of my rear speakers are working either. Just the 2 front dash speakers. Looks like I'll put that search button to use also.

Yep! That's the whole problem, the Amp remote wire (or accessory remote wire on some) needs to be plugged into the Antenna wire, it controls the relays that turn on the amp for the rear speakers. I don't know if I'd actually connect the power antenna wire coming from the H/U to it or not because that is programed to turn off while playing a cd in most H/U's. Just use the amp remote wire.

Yeah fourwd1 not using that feature in other forums i used to belong too caused me a lot of grief as well as other members getting annoyed with me. I've since learned to use that before I start a new thread. Keeps the forums clean and helps people not to get po'd with me.

Ok. I pulled my stereo out to see how it was wired and took a few pics. Maybe y'all can help me attach the wires correctly.

Blue/white wire from 4Runner. Not sure what it is.

Harness from stereo. Blue wire looped back to harness. Also have a blue wire off to the right of the picture labeled "ANT CONT" that's not attached to anything. Does that wire need to be connected to the harness to power the rear speakers?

I think I may have discovered my problem. I pried back one of the rear panels and don't think there are any rear speakers. Also noticed some home stereo type speaker wire under the rear carpet. I'm guessing one of the previous owner removed the rear speakers before selling it. Looks like I'm going to do some car audio shopping. Not sure I want to go through all the pain of installation though. Time to search for a decent installer here in So Cal.
