so as a SAR member, ive been looking around here on the forum and found a few guys who have runners they use for SAR. post up some pics of your SAR rigs and tell us some of the SAR related mods you have done. here are some of my rigs

i have built the roof rack for the 4runner. this is my second one, i sold the first one and probably will sell this one soon and build another one... um ive used the sliders on the runner as anchor points for high angle rope rescues also can use the rear clevis hook in the 2" receiver -works wonders. i carry an assortment of gear, every thing from ropes to strobes to VS-17 panels, to MREs and recovery gear to full first aid/trauma kits, looking to get a WALK for both rigs. my wife is a surgical nurse so she gets me tons of medical equipment/supplys. i have everything short of the anesthetics(an know how) to an emergency surgery -yes even the blades and sterile utensils ect. (no i would never try this on anyone buy myself, and at that it would have to be life and death). anyhow yeah i know there are a lot of other things that im probably forgetting.

My 92 4runner.
Still a work in progress but I have plans on installing arb air lockers in the front and rear sometime this year.
Currently have tjm bumper with an old warn winch in it.
Cobra 29gtl cb setup in it. About to get a yaeseu vhf/uhf setup in it soon. Basket on the roof with pro comp lights all around. 55w on the roof and 130w on the bumper.

Also, I'm not looking for gnarly carnage, but do you guys have any pics of your rigs "at work" with any of this equipment? Might be interesting to see.

I volunteer with the San Bernardino National Forest OHV program and we get called in to help with SAR and vehicle recoveries. I am in process of joining the San Bernardino Sherrifs SAR even though I live next County over. So technically I am not an official SAR but do use my vehicle for that on occasion.

I think Kid is Active Military and I am Reserve Military with combat Lifesaver and carry full aid bags, with IV's and suture kit. My Military certs don't mean jack outside, but I can use everything in bag other than IV. Trying to get my Wilderness FA cert and a few others.

Now for the gnarly pictures. It is frowned upon to take pictures of a scene unless directed to do so and even then you are supposed to protect the privacy of the parties involved. So no pictures from me.

i work for a sheriffs office. former EMS, and been deployed to iraq(i miss it sometimes but other times im glad i never have to back to that h3ll hole!) army, 11B. ive done just about every thing sort of trakes... but again none of that means jack in the civilian side. but if its life or death for you or someone, ill take my chances(with what i "cant do bla bla bla..." to save someones a$$ -if that means start and iv or push some drugs or try to give a trake...) if their saveable and im thier only hope. -hope that didnt come across as arrogant

Didnt come across as arrogant.... that is the way I feel and reason I carry my Combat bags with me at all times. Friends family no hesitation to give IV etc. joe blow stranger will think about it(CRM risk assessment) and if my advanced military aid will be difference between life or death will take my chances as well. If not will splint, bandage, vitals wait for civilian certified EMS and provide patient status.

yeah did you see my first pic? that was a few weeks back, car over the bank, down a ravine and into the creek... the lady didnt know where she was, she knew where she was coming from and going to but did not know the name of the road.... anyhow no skid marks no nothing she just left the road(probably looking at her cell phone?) and nailed a oak tree about 4' in the air and proceeded to tumble down to the creek. she was luck, she walked away. she was in a brand new mercedes benz clk500 it was totaled. anyhow i heard the call go out and i was in the area so this was not an actual "search and rescue" but sense i was close by and knew the area i went. i was first on scene and was amazed that she walked away. unfortunately like said by the others you have to be very careful with pictures, HIPAA can be a pain sometimes but its their for a reason.

the group im with does not use our vehicles for much other than trans to and from searches, how ever i am trying to change that for us in the portland vancouver metro area. im trying to get the sheriffs office im with to sign off on a plan to create an addition to our group just specifically for 4WDs as their aid and benefit can be priceless and almost necessary at times. if i can sell them on this idea(so far everyone seems to be "go" for the idea) then i will be doing a lot of training and or looking for people to come in and do some training -i wish i could get bill burke but thats probably out of our budget for training at this time.
