seat belt replacement from newbie

I bought a 03 SR5 and the seat belts were ripped. I got new seatbelts and was wondering what it takes to replace these. Any info would help. Thank you. By the way they are the front and rear passenger side.

Did you buy them from Toyota? There is a definite procedure for removing and disposing of the old seat belts. According to the factory service manual it can be dangerous.
I would suggest having Toyota do this for you as it is a definite safety issue.

yes they are oem belts. They look like they just bolt in but i was worried about any special tools that were needed.

They should have a wire to them. That's where the danger can come, they have a pre-tensioner that is somewhat 'explosive'. Just be sure to shut the car off, remove the key and disconnect the battery for 10 minutes prior to working it and you should be fine. 10 minutes isn't the right number, it's really 1,2 or 5; something like that but I know 10 will work.

Which part are you replacing, the part that pulls out of the pillar or the part that stays with the seat? If it's the part that stays with the seat there is no problem.

The part that goes into the pillar. On the passenger side front and rear. how does the pillar plastic come off, do i need anything special?

I need to replace my front driver's seat belt as well. anybody do this replacement themselves? haven't found the replacement belt yet
