Seat compatibility 96-02

I have a 96 and a 97 limited both with tan leather I found a 00 with perfect leather seats but the guy said the wiring may be different. I have never heard this . I haven’t tried to swap between the years ether ??? Any input would be appreciated

I believe 96-97 Runners never came with seat heaters. So for the years with seat heaters, the wiring will include the seat heater plug. I still swapped a leather bottom from a later year Runner with a seat heater into my 97 that has no provisions for the heater — without issue. I just tucked the plug up underneath. Other than that, everything should be good to go if I recall correctly.

The seat wiring is pretty simple. If the seats are coming out of a rig that is being parted grab both sides of the plug and as much wiring as you can get.

Like the guy above me said, I wouldn't pass on mint seats because of wiring. It's really not hard to wire them up if you need to.

Seat heaters weren't until 01-02 in the Limited. I considered some 01 heated seats but honestly had no time to mess with connectors and wiring.

According to my EWDs, '96 and '97 have no seat wiring on the passenger side and drivers is just a 2-wire connection to the buckle switch for the buzzer/light--nothing to do with SRS. Should be easy.

On the SR5. But Limited definitely not.

What's it do? Power seats or heated seats I assume. That would be different. EWDs could be wrong, and I only looked at SRS and Belt buzzers.

It's not terribly hard to swap the cushions and everything over onto your rails, you may have to have an interior guy do the backrest for you though. That would keep all the wiring factory.
