Seat Ideas

I am "restoring" my 89 4Runner and I am looking for ideas for seating options. I can't seem to find any good seats from other 4Runners in the Seattle area. Even if you find replacement seats, they all seem tattered and worn and stained. I have looked into getting them reapholstered, but I can't seem to find any options other than leather reapholstery kits, and the local interior shops want like 1500 to do them (including the back seats).

Anyone else do anything cool for the seats? Are there some aftermarket seats that will fit the 1st gen 4Runners? My seats look like crap and one of the previous owners was a smoker, so I'd prefer to just get new seats.

Thanks in advance

According to my research on this subject, the seats up to and including 1995 4Runners will bolt into yours front and back. You might have to tweak one hole for the front seats to work but that's it. I have not personally verified this information so be warned!

However, if it is true, then that opens many options for you to get the seats out of a newer generation of 4Runner. They should run about $400 +/- for front and rear (with belts) at a pick-n-pull for SR5 seats.

Also, if you dont really have your heart set on re-upholstering the seats then you could drop some cash on some really good quality seat covers like these: http://www.wetokole.com/

If you're handy with fabrication or know someone who is you could pull seats out of other vehicles too, I'd like to get myself a set of MKIII Toyota Supra leather seats if I could. Im not sure whats involved in putting them in but I know a friend of mine who has an 85' Toyota pickup was always bugging me about my seats in my Supra;he wanted to swap them into his truck.
