yes - I have power seats and am experiencing this in my 2007 SE w/ 22000 miles

I have power seats as well. Dealer ordered a new seat, would have helped if it was the right color:bash: Guess I'll have to wait a few more weeks.

Got back from the dealer...
I went in with the TSB posted by mangus7175 earlier in the thread, they inspected it, discussed it over the phone with the Toyota Extended Warranty people, and it is covered. They'll be replacing the seat next Saturday.

That platinum warr. I bought for the truck when I bought it just paid for itself.

They covered it! That's great. Could you give me a specific description of what was happening to your seat? Mine makes a cracking/clicking sound on tight turns and when someone gets in and out but many times it's hard to replicate. Were you able to replicate the issue when you brought it into the dealer? Let me know please.

Just that there was something loose in the seat cushion assembly. When turning, braking, etc. my body's mass (over 200Lbs, no comments from the peanut gallery please) would naturally try to move, and this would move something loose inside the seat. It would feel like there was some object under the seat, rattling around, but there wasn't. Replicating the problem was easy; you could stand outside the vehicle and move the edges/corners of the seat and get the same noise/loose feeling.

I should also mention that this is temperature sensitive. It is far less noticeable, often below detection threshold in cold weather, say 20 degrees or lower. I bought this truck going into winter, and we had very few warm spells this winter, which is why it didn't become a problem till the warmer weather started to arrive.

Letting you all know that have powered seats with cracking, rattling, squeaking sounds that there is a fix. I too lived with the sound for about a year till I couldn't take it any longer. Finally took it in and couple days later no more sounds. What a relief. Especially on the pocket since it was still covered by warranty. Just make sure to have a service tech ride with you and let them hear the sounds and hopefully you'll get yours fixed as well.

At first they did a tsb on some seat pins that mount to I believe the track or maybe the floor board. that didn't do the trick so had to leave it for couple days. In the end the whole seat was taken out and checked out. The track rail assy was deformed and I guess over time it just got worse. anyways they replaced that part only and that did the trick. Finally no more noises. I too thought it was the console to my right side but after rocking the chair on the ends I was able to duplicate the sound and show them. Don't know about you folks you can stand the creaking sound but after awhile it gets annoying. Now its 100 percent peace and quiet.

Well today I stopped by the dealer and complained about the seat noise. I have an appointment Monday to have it throughly checked out. So at leat I have the ball rolling. The noises were especially loud today as the temp warmed up which prompted me to go in. It was starting to - - - - me off. Impossible to drive with the radio off. No one will probably hear anything on Monday.

seat noise

Is the sound you guys are referring sound like the seat is locking into place after you shift your body or make a turn around a corner. Because that is what has been happening with my seat. It feels like it locks into place once I move my body. If it isn't, please explain your seat noise a bit more. I'd like to know if I should get this checked out. I have a 07 SR5 2wd with manual seats.

Yes. Moving around in the seat, the seat physically moves and makes a click sound. Same thing when accelerating, stoping, and going around corners. My dealer ordered a new seat, with no questions asked. Will be put in in a week.

That is exactly why I waited till we had a warm Saturday to take it in and have them look at it.
I'm writing this from the dealer's waiting room as they are changing it out.

I think part of the noise is coming from the internal heating pad that seems to rub the leather from inside the seat. I could push on the seat where the pad is and hear a squeaking sort of sound. Of course that's not all the noise. There's the other pops and clicks etc. Also the seat on the frame is much looser (so to speak) than when the vehicle was new.

After a couple of days of having car back still no seat noises. =) Once you folks start noticing seat noises take it in cause it gets worse as time passes. Try grabbing the corners and rock them you can hear like squeaking plastic and if you rock it right you can almost feel as if the there is freeplay also. Just make sure when you take it in to the dealer to duplicate the sound and take a service tech with you along a test drive. Do this before your warranty expires otherwise you'll be paying some bucks.

They told me mine was normal wear and tear. I'll be *****ing to them again fairly soon. But if these seats just start making nosie again after a couple thousand miles than what's the use in swaping them out? My service manager said it cost around $5k to swap them out so i wonder how long Toyota can afford to change them all.

If you read the TSB that is associated with this, the procedure varies depending if you have side air bags or not.

Repair Procedure w/ Side Airbags:

Replace seat assembly with NEW service part.
==

Repair Procedure w/o Side Airbags:

Replace seat frame assembly with NEW service part.

It seems that w/out Side Airbags, they just replace the seat frame.

Since mine doesn't have Side Airbags, I had this done, and the Toyota extra care warr. was billed about $500 for the job.

I did a search and didn't find this thread until after I started a new one, sorry about that.

The dealership replaced the drivers seat frame assembly on my 04 with the new part(71120-35151) two years ago. Now 10,000 miles out of warranty it is doing the exact same thing that it was doing in 07. I can feel something popping under the seat and it feels like one of the springs is popping in the back.

They told me that since I already have the replacement frame and am out of warranty that any repairs would be out of pocket.

Am I SOL?
