Seat Rail Mount Platform // Guaging Interest

Have to exit my truck to get my ABC from the back, so that's moot. Being able to fight an electrical fire quickly from the driver's seat is irrelevant if you pass out from oxygen deprivation. Your truck though, mod as you see fit.

Having been in a roll over in a HMMWV on a filming assignment, with an electrical fire we used halon extinguishers as we all bailed out with 2/75th Rangers and no one died. I am aware of how Halon works.

If you have to exit your truck to get your extinguisher you're already behind the curve.

May I interest you in an extinguisher mount that solves that?

Thanks. We also looked into something that mounted into the upper portion of the seat to allow it to travel with the seat when moving forward or back, but to make that work would have required a lot of disassembly, and it would have blocked access to the seat rail bolts.

Sort of no perfect solution.

Would you be able to fashion an extension piece that would bolt onto the legs for shorter people, or make the mounting hole a slot?

I'll look into making the hole a slot, or worst case you could make it a slot with a dremel.

Take the seat to about 2/3 to 1" forward of the front tip of the plastic feet cover, it can't really go beyond that.

Actually that's a lie, if you wanted to you could install the plate, and because it's aluminum you could carefully bend it forward and get another inch or so. It's just mainly designed to be vertical.

Edit: after going out and looking at my truck I'm wondering if this will work with Weathertech/Husky Liner mats. Have you tried it with any sort of floor liner installed? Your carpet looks too clean for you to not be using them but I figured it's worth asking.

Edit: after going out and looking at my truck I'm wondering if this will work with Weathertech/Husky Liner mats. Have you tried it with any sort of floor liner installed? Your carpet looks too clean for you to not be using them but I figured it's worth asking.

You'll have to make two notches in the liner to fit. I haven't done it yet on mine till I get the final production plates in. Same with dremeling the plastic feet to cover up the bolts.

It might but we never tried it and we didn't want to mount it in the back.

Would I be too greedy if I ask for 2? Would really like to have one for driver and passenger. If it's a 2.5lbs that fits in there it would be nice to have a total of 5lbs in case the first one runs out without completing the job.

Next I will have to figure out Halon or not. Being in IT, I like the idea of not causing electrical shorts later down the road. Or even better, no residue. But then again the damage caused by the fire in the first place may cause electrical gremlins down the road anyway and the stench of burnt interior plastic will probably never go away either.

In any case let me know if I can grab 2 of these nice brackets please!

IE a medical kit or quick trauma kit w/tourney.
A pistol and extra magazine mount.
Flashlight mount.
A pouch mounted to it for small things...

Just some odeas I thought of that you could use these for besides a fire extinguisher.

Also a plate that could mount to the rear bolts might be an option for some. Some sort of multiple mounting solution and it would fit needs for many different uses.

I will do a current headcount later today to talk to the machinist about doing the first batch and anodizing.

The trick is I designed this FOR ME and my needs, and some others hit me up about wanting one, so it can't be everything for everyone sadly. A rear plate would be nice but wouldn't allow you to fold your rear seats down effectively, also accessing a fire extinguisher back there wouldn't be as easy as behind your legs. Also here's the issue with behind the seat: Actually installing the bolts. The mount has those 45 cuts on the edges to allow you to get a socket wrench extension down to the bolts, otherwise you will have a hell of a time (I found that out on the first prototype). So the rear would be a lot tougher.

As for multiple uses, yes, absolutely. It's drilled for a standard H&R extinguisher bracket pattern, but 30 seconds with a drill press and you can do whatever you want. It's just a platform.
