If you end up not making more , you could post the CAD files up and then it would be on others to make themselves. Obviously if your worried about intellectual property that wouldn't make sense.....

I bet the reality is if you are not making large batches people will find this prohibitively expensive but its an option. Personally if it was mine I would just leave the Alu. raw and not worry about anodizeing to save on $ but it wouldn't blend as well.

Unfortunately the only way to do this is to utilize the hard points offered by the bolts that hold the

front seat rails down.

I think folks will appreciate the clarity that you WILL be making more it will just be at a later date, from the previous posts it seemed more wishy washy. Not so patiently waiting for the postal service to deliver mine!

They're boxed and ready to go, I'm getting a dog today so I'm being conservative of WHEN I can get to the post office and not leave the dog to destroy my apartment.

We found someone to make our brackets. It's looking like Wit's End will revise the design a little and try to make more before years out or for sure in early 2017. But I was being wishy washy because both myself and the guy who did the original CAD work didn't want to make another batch.

I can't promise when the next batch is coming out, but we traded CAD files so hopefully it won't take long.

Again I will try to ship brackets today/tomorrow but everyone should start getting them this week.

Officially? I will not be doing any more of these. The 8 that went out (2 I claimed) are all I'll ever do.

That said, Wit's End will be handling production going forward and we hope to have a final product soon with some subtle but critical product improvements:

-steel
-reinforcement tabs so it can't be bent over or down if you step on the fire extinguisher
-universal hole pattern aka like a camera cheese plate

So I had a question, do you find your self kicking or bumping this at all when you get in/out of your truck?

I like the idea and location, just not so sure about the volume a 2.5 lb extinguisher takes up.

I've never hit it once. You have to purposely snug your heels as far back as possible to contact the extinguisher. Even then you'll hit your knees on the steering wheel before you hit your feet on any metal.

Did you read the thread? We're working to have someone take over the design. I don't have a timeline and have said that much in the post but they will go into production.

Finally an update.

For those of you guys who were interested in purchasing a set of the fire extinguisher plates I helped design...here you go. We refined the design, and are having Wits' End handle fabrication and sale:

Fire Extinguisher Mount- 5th Gen 4Runner (FEM-5)

Some of the differences:
-Steel construction
-Added reinforcement wings to prevent bending
-universal hole pattern for the vast majority of fire extinguisher mounts (no drilling needed)
-Powder coat finish

Thanks for doing these and pushing through further fabrication! The pre-drilled holes are a nice touch but I laughed as the model looks like swiss cheese. Guilty of installing both , but haven't mounted the extinguisher, still in the cargo area being extremely not useful or easy to get to....

The holes don't reduce strength and the original design only worked for the fire extinguisher *I* was using.

We also added the TEK hole pattern, which is awesome. Look up www.tek208.com

I'll be using their mounting platform on the plates when I receive my production ones.
