Seattle 4th Gen... Long time, First TIme

Hi everyone.

Long time reader, first time starting to post on here. Big shout outs to everyone here who have given me tons of ideas over the last three years.

3 years ago bought a 2006 V8 SE with low miles in Cheyenne WY. Made for a great road trip to get to know the girl on the way home.
Humble Beginnings (Grand Tetons in Background)

First came Daystar 2.5/1.5 to make it look less like a car and Cooper S/T Maxx 265/70/17s.

Ran this setup for 2 years, then upgraded to Icon suspension overall (bye, bye XREAS) and Cooper S/T Maxx 255/80/17s

Just added FN 5 Star Wheels (huge shout out to Dustin, great to do business with).

Thanks. I updated the thread to include where the photos were taken. One is in Wyoming, the other two scenery shots in Southern Utah. I love the SW and have been down to nearly all the parks in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.

Welcome to the forum. My name is Ryan. There is a meet up thread in both the 3rd gen section and 5th gen section. They are high traffic. We use them to plan meet-ups and wheelin trips. check them out there is alot of pics from meets and videos. I have a red 2nd gen.

Yeah, I do really like the S/T Maxx tires, they are the favorite tire I have had. I previously ran the 265/70/17s with my daystar and put them through their paces. Prior to my runner I had a lifted Cherokee and ran either BFG MT or AT and prefer the Coopers to either tire (I think it is more versatile). When I upgraded to the Icon lift I wanted something a bit bigger and liked the idea of the pizza cutter look to try something other than 285/70s. The 255s were quite a bit cheaper too ($181 / tire on Tire Crawler) while 285/70s were $234 / tire.

Cool thanks Ryan, I will have to look into this. I'm not big into wheelin (yet), used to 15+ years ago with my first gen 4R but haven't done too much recently. I mostly do overland stuff but have been thinking about mixing things up.

Cool, that's good to hear. I've always been a BFG guy, so it's nice to hear a review from someone who has also previously ran BFGs. I'll be going with the 255/80/17 size as well.

As you stated below being more of an overland guy, I am as well. I have an RTT and like to go on multi-day trips into the mountains. You'll have to link up with us sometime.

There are quite a few easy places to go out to. We usually go out with the 5th gens. So we generally go out to places that are mostly paint and body friendly. I unfortunately am not going to make it out anytime soon. My runner is going under the knife. My water pump is spewing water, so im going to do a 4.3 vortec 4speed swap. Should be a fun project. I may fix the water pump so i can still drive it though.
