Secondary Suspension Components

Aside from the usual bare bones, shocks, springs, coils...etc. What are usually some good components that might get attention or upgraded in the process.

I am thinking lower ball joints and perhaps rear sway bushings and drop/end links. But is there anything else I should consider looking at replacing "while I'm in there"???

Suspension bushings everywhere. ITREs, OTREs, steering rack bushings, new bolts to mount the NEW OEM LBJ to the steering knuckle (4 bolts each side), UBJs, tie rod boots, ... alignment.

With the lift I NEEDED to reboot the axles and get some longer sway bar links.

I did tre and lbj as a precaution.

I want an adjustable panhard bar still.

I was thinking about LBJ hardware the other day. Where do you get it? I was about to order some new OEM LBJs from the 2002 Toyota 4Runner Parts - Camelback Toyota Parts - Genuine OEM Parts - Free Shipping . I see the LBJs and the castle nuts, but for the life of me, I have yet to find the hardware. The hardware seems like a crucial part too. I know there are different grades of nuts, bolts, and screws, and I don't want to screw it up, (pun intended). Is there a section I am missing? I am contemplating doing the ITREs, and OTREs as well. Those parts add up fast! Hahaha.

Yes, the bolts.

I have had trouble finding nuts and bolts on those sites too. You need to know the part # and then put that part # into the search bar on Camelbacks site.

You should be able to find the part # for lower ball joint bolts easily on this site. Or call a dealer and ask. Then you can place your order.

I looked through my order history. The bolts which hold the LBJs onto the steering knuckles are part # 90080-10066
For both sides, you will need a total of 8.

Also, it is recommended (on here and other Toyota forums) to use at least Blue Loc-tite for those bolts.

As far as ITREs and OTREs, there are aftermarket options, and this part isn't as important as LBJs for quality. However, I have my 4Runner lifted, so I figured I wanted the best quality I could get, so I "never" need to replace them again. I forked over the cash to replace my tie rods with OEM. If you want to save a little bit of cash, at least buy OEM outers and go aftermarket on the inners. If you aren't lifted, ... I don't know. Maybe aftermarket inners and outers will never let you down?
