Secuirty for my 03 4runner

Last night my next door neighbors brand new 04 imited runner was stolen, he just bought it last week. Don't know why mine was left alone, just lucky I guess. Got me thinking what kind of security features should I add to my rig maybe a

LoJack
Alarm(which most people ignore)
The club

Can't think of anything else


Any suggestions would be appreciated. Right now I just have the dealer installed alarm system.

I WOULD GUESS IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE MONEY YOU WANT TO SPEND. I HAVE A BULLDOG INSTALLED. IT'S KINDA CHEAP. THE GOOD ONES ARE QUITE PRICEY WITH GPS LOCATOR AND STUFF. ONE OF MY SOLDIERS GOT SOMETHING WITH GPS AND AN OPTION TO HAVE AN AUDIBLE ALARM OR A SILENT ONE THAT RINGS HIS CELL PHONE SO HE CAN GET HIS SHOTGUN AND MEET THE DUDE(S) FACE TO FACE.

the best thing is the engine immobiliser which was standard on mine - you cant start it unless you have the chipped key, which allows the engine to turn over when in the ignition. but ive heard recently is that the thiefs are starting to break into houses, and steeling the keys which are usually left near the front and back doors....bottom line is if they want it bad enough they are going to get it...only thing you can do is make it as difficult as possible. down here we have also had cars stolen direclty from the dealerships, with stolen tow trucks!!

Must be easy to steal in Canada. No worries of meeting a gun owner! What are you guys up North allowed to keep in your own homes?

Sorry to hear about the theft. If someone wants your truck, they are going to get it no matter what you install.

While looking at GPS units, I ran across this site today: http://www.autonav2000.com/Compare/VehicleTrackingCompare.htm

Maybe someone else has experience with these -- sounds interesting, and seems to use the Skytel network so coverage is good.

I went to the link. Imagine that someone steals your 4runner and you can go on something like Mapquest to find out where it is and then you and some of your friends can go make a little visit...
