Seems like Traction control still active?

I was doing donuts in a parking lot full of slow, in 4WD HI with Traction control Off and the Diff locked and when I hit the gas it still made the ticking sounds the traction control systems is activated as I'm doing the Donuts? I know it wasn't ABS because my foot is on the gas, full throttle? What else can possibly make that noise in my 04 v6?

A-TRAC (4-wheel traction control) is ALWAYS ON. When you lock the center diff, VSC (stability control) turns OFF, but ATRAC is still ON. Thus, you hear the clicking noises...it just means that you were slipping and ATRAC did it's thing to get power to the wheel(s) with traction.

Yes, this is 100% true, but I wonder if the '08 4Runner's VSC off switch will also disable the ATRAC?
 
Okay, so what does all that mean?

I think I lost a few IQ points after reading that...

Yes , VSC was off and ATRAC is on and always activated , makes a little noise but you sure can nice 4 wheel roosts out of it . I just love Atrac in those conditions or off road it's just awesome.

The ATRAC is a fantastic traction aid. I'm old school 4x4 guy and I'm starting to like this more than a locking diff's. and we have it in front and rear axle.
 
OK so that's explains it, it's ATRAC cool! I can't believe how good this truck travels in the snow! Best Vehicle I ever owned! My wife want's one now :)
