Selectable front locker, destroy of preserve?

I have heard different things. Does a front locker (on our stock IFS) cause more broken CVs or does it prevent breakage?

I'm talking when used right. Off when not needed and on when needed and the wheels have some slippage. I'm sure it's not good to turn super tight on slickrock when locked.

preserve. less unintended wheel spin which will allow you to crawl slower and have less wheel hop. that will mean less broken axles

I'd say yes, put probably only use a front locker in situations where you dont' have to saw the wheel back and forth or on slippery surfaces, which gives a little play (read: wheel spin, if slippery enough) in the drivetrain and "gives it a break" so to speak.

If used correctly and sparingly, it will preserve you drivetrain components. You have to remember that throttle is not the solution to most low traction obstacles.

Lock the front for a straight section, as it will make it difficult to turn.
Avoid backing up with the front locked, especially with the wheel cut over.
