Hey guys, I'm new to the forums obviously. I'm very interested in having a "project" done on my truck.

This is my 4Runner '99 as of now.

http://picsend.net/viewer.php?id=5590Picture_007_(Large).jpg

I got this baby last year in Feb. and I'd love to give it a new look.

My goals;

1. "Black" everything out on my 4Runner
2. Get a new set of rims
3. Get a lift (I am not sure what is the appropriate height or most common height used for 4Runner '99 :( )
4. Tint my 2 front windows to 35% and front windshield.. (i think 50%? is that even legal?)

Now knowing that this is a forum dedicated to 4Runner's, I'd love for everybody that has time to help to hit me up with some links related to the objectives that I am hoping to achieve.

(here or PM is fine).

Thanks guys!

And oh, my budget.. Iunno. I'm only 18 so it'll definitely take me a while to get a lot of $ (probably 2-3 months.)

First off welcome to the forum. I'm 18 aswell so I know what you mean about the money.

Are you looking for a lift for just looks or do you go offroad?

35% won't match upfront and any tint on the windshield is illegal.

Welcome! The 3rd gen section will be a great help.

The pic link broken:bash:

Thanks! Sorry I'm not familiar with this forum

Does that work?

Yeah, I'm doing it half for looks and POSSIBLY offroading next year. A lot of my buddies are going to VT and I'm pretty sure they have some sick off roading areas for people to go

"35% won't match upfront and any tint on the windshield is illegal."

What is "upfront?" Maybe I got the wrong percent tint? :p, I just want it to be more darker IMO.

To match the rest of the runner you will most likely need 15% tint on the front 2 windows. 15% is normally what comes from the factory on most vehicles. But yeah, any tint on the actual windshield is illegal.

Good lookin' T4R. That's going to be fun. [u*r*l]link[/u*r*l] is the trick here for links.

Heck yea, another in the under 25 club...

I have all my windows tinted to 25%, over the factory rear tint so it looks darker... 30% i beleive is the legal limit in Alabama, I didn't want to push the envelope too much...

Welcome to board, and our world...

The windshield tint is illegal, but there is no way for them to verify it is tinted if it is done by a good shop. In order to measure the tint they clip a meter on either side of the window that measures the tint. Since this is not possible on the windshield, they cant see whether it is tinted or not. Mine is 50%, you honestly cannot tell from the inside and it just looks like a glare from the outside. I love mine tinted, it looks sooo clean.

Wordddddd, do you think my shop that tinted my windows will do it? Even if I have to pay extra? Also, is there any good HID or any blue lights for me to use because I want to replace my headlights with HID.

Thanks guys :D :D :D

Some shops will, some won't. Gotta ask.

Be prepared to pay a good bit. I got mine done for $80.

Just remember that adding HID's will draw attention to your car and will possibly cause it to be pulled over more frequently.

word! it costed $100 for 50%. Why would HID attract attention from the police? Is it because of the blue lights?

Blue, non stock color, will draw attention more than say 4300K HID's.

Also if you don't do it right you will have a good bit of glare.

Jeez! I'm not sure what to go with. Any ideas on what should I get? H4 or what? Thanks!

If you want really good light output you should retrofit some projectors in there or have someone do it for you. Those will provide a very nice cut off and lots of light output.

Welcome! Looks to me from the picture that the front windows already have some tint... Am i missing something?

Yeah you are ahaha. I have 50% but I want to go
more darker so I will go with 15-35%. depends on what they offer though. (tint shop).

And Clemson, thanks bud. what kind of shop should I look for? Thanks bud

I gottcha. For some reason that looks darker than %50 to me. But i'd go with 15-20 I think 35 will be to light.
