Sell, Rebuild, or Replace....or something else???

OK...here's the skinny.

I have very little low end torque, problems starting in very cold weather, a gas leak (I think...not entirely sure to be honest), and a truck that DOES NOT want to climb hills (unless it's at 4K rpms or in 4wd, then no prob)

Compression was tested to be @ 110 lbs on each cylinder. I have 89 3VZE Auto.

I'm starting to research all my options. I just sold my daily driver, so now I have this and about $3000 cash.

SOOOOOOOO....

  1. Do I sell this and combine to buy something new
  2. Have my mechanic rebuild the existing engine (it has 160K miles) and hope that it will regain some juice
  3. Buy a remanufactured engine with a warranty (most likely the 5vze!!) and have my mechanic put it in
  4. Or is there another option that I'm leaving out????

Anyways...thought I would rely upon you all at the forum for some direction. I've got like $3K that I could invest into it. I really like the truck and I've currently replaced all of the following in last two months:

Batter, Spark Plugs, Fuel Regulator, Brake Pads, Ignition Coil, Oil Change, New Tires, and flushed the radiator.

I really like the look, love it in 4wd, but the truck is waaaay too damn slow in 2wd daily driving. It's going to get me killed, or stuck somewhere.
