Sequoia brakes on 03 4runner?

Okay so I recently baught new brake pads from discount, they are some organic ceramic compound which cost me 80 bucks.

So i take the wheels off and the rotors were stuck on and i wanted them turned so i took it to meineki to have them do everything.

Well they discovered that the pads didnt fit and after trying several different pads they discovered that ones for a sequoia fit right. And the pads i had baught are the correct ones for the application but didnt fit mine for some reason. Sooo...wth??


Oh and btw they couldnt get the rotors off either so i wasted another 80 bucks just having meineki put on the pads damnit

just some word of advice as I just got a used '03 4runner also.. don't waste money turning the rotors! Just drive it until you feel it's time to be replaced and change to new rotors. Sorry, can't help you with fitment of your pads but I would trust Toyota's mechanics before Meineke.

Just remember there are two different pads for the 4th gen's.....one for the bigger brakes found on the Sports and Limiteds (I think) and one for the smaller brakes on the SR5.

I went to parznet and forgot to mention about the different sizes and no one asked and I wound up with my truck in the air with the wrong pads late on a Saturday afternoon. They gave me pads intended for the SR5.

Those pads were obviously different once I had them next to the old ones so I didn't even try

The old pads were dangerously close to having metal to metal contact and partznet was actually open until 3pm on Saturday but they didn't have the right pads anyway when I called them on it, so I had to get aftermarket pads. Not a bad thing I guess because the aftermarket pads were much cheaper and since the OEM pads didn't last very long I figured they couldn't be any worse than OEM. I borrowed a car so I didn't have to put everything back together before finding the right ones.
