Sequoia wheels: Score!!.....maybe.

The Good:

- Found a perfect set of wheels for $300. Straight, no scrapes or scratches. They have 285 BFG's with more than half the tread remaining.

The Bad:

- I don't have a lift and not planning to do one right now since this is my winter/daily driver. I may get one down the road, but its not practical for me. The 285's have to come off and new tires going on. I needed to purchase new tires anyway, but I'm glad I found these wheels when I did. Saves me the hassle and money if I found them later. I'll be posting the tires in the classified section if anyone is interested in them.
- The wheels are also gunmetal which I found out after going to pick them up. The seller said silver, but they are clearly darker. They are a little dirty so maybe they aren't that dark. My Runner is white so I think the gunmetal will clash or just look odd. I'll have to clean them up, but it looks like I'll have to paint them. I was leaning towards painting them black which should look pretty good.

Would've been a better deal if I could've used the existing tires and the wheel color wasn't a concern. Still a pretty good deal though. Especially if I recoup some cost with selling those tires.

Do you guys think flat black or gloss would look better? And what grade sandpaper do I use to prep?

Thanks!!!

I just got the exact same wheels if you want to get an idea of how it will look on a 3rd gen, but mines green...

I couldnt tell myself what color they were until I actually got them on. I thought they were hyper silver. I like gunmetal more, though.

Here's what you need to do, meet me somewhere and we'll do a quick swap. I'll already have a lift by then so my set up will look smallish but will look great for you and I don't have a white rig, so those will look great on mine! Aren't you glad I was here to help?:fro:

with no lift don't even try 285's

go with a set of 31's

and leave them gunmetal!
don't paint them black or I'll have to hit you with a biter tax hahahaha :boxer:

Thanks for posting.. Very nice!! Mine look exactly like that now that I have them home in the light.

Ha! No worries Liny.. I wouldn't do it without your permission! I think I'm going to see what they look like as is after I get new tires. Although I'm thinking the gunmetal looks better on darker color Runners.

FoneRunner: Thanks man! Problem solved!!! Ha!!

Glad I could help...now, I can meet you in southern VA sometime tomorrow...I'll repost when I find a good exit and wait for you there...shoot I'll even get started taking off my wheels while I wait for you to arrive!:bravo:

Damn these sound like they're already yours - I too am looking for a set of Sequoia wheels - how the heck did you find them around here??

They were on an old craiglist ad with no picture or anything. Just said "Toyota wheels..need to move". I emailed and didn't hear anything for a week. They finally responded(were out of town) and I left work at lunch and picked them up. Didn't want them to get away.

Nice find!!! Yup don't paint them slap them on when you get some good tires. You will love them and trust me they will look good with white.
