I lifted my 03 4runner with a OEM lift, no issues. I then put on tires a week later and no issues. THen about 2 weeks later, I take it to the shop and have it alligned. I also had to change one of the tie rods because it wouldnt break loose.
After picking up the alignment, it drove very straight. On my way home, about 5 miles from the shop I was going 70 mph and all of a sudden, with out warning, the truck jerked hard right and almost caused me to flip the truck. It really freaked me out. I took it to a different shop, one that specializes in lifted trucks and they could not find anything wrong. I also took it back to the shop and they couldnt find any issues.
I was scared to drive it for a while but now, 3 months later, no issues until tonight.
My daughter was driving the truck and she said it jerked to the right, then left and traction control kicked in with three beeps and she saw the light come on and it started jerking backwards too i guess trying to brake. She was going aroudn 50 getting on the highway. So she turned around and it did the exact same thing 2 more times on the way home. She was terrified and came back crying saying she thought she was going to die. I go to drive it and it does nothing for me.
I have no idea what is going on and no shop is going to be able to figure this out if it doesnt do it. The only other piece of info I left out was the CV joints leaked after lifting it and threw a lot of grease out. Do you think on of the axles are catching causing the truck to pull then traction control kicks in? Any chance the new angle of my diff from the lift would cause this? I need some ideas because someone is going to get killed if this keeps happening. Its about to start snowing here in CO and if this happens on slick roads its going to be trouble. By the way, when she was driving tonight, dry pavement, no rain, no snow. Thanks for any ideas.
