Agreed. Pick up a first gen. If you are making a dedicated trail rig, then sell the 3rd gen, and use that money to get a nice 1st gen with solid axle in front.

the one you see in the picture from japan is actually factory. There was 2 options with the pickup style. One is just the single front row and and a long bed.

That's a pretty bad photoshop.

Anyway, they do make a "pickup style" from the factory -- it's called the Hilux!

Actually, I love the idea of a chop top. I've thought about it too. Do a cage, cut the top and add a 1st Gen soft top. Feasible? Not sure but I love the idea.
