*only mildly now* diappointed with Volant!

Just got home after 2 months....and tried installing my intake.

As alot of you have had fairly decent install posts up here on the board, I was expecting some of the issues to be there but I found more with my kit that I am SERIOUSLY disappointed with Volant.

My issues as far with the kit...

The airbox holes are mis drilled and as such are misalligned so far that I am unable to use the required 2 bolts...and am left to use just 1 bolt.

Secondly...the MAF slot was not predrilled on the runner tube.

third...the insulating foam for the intake tube was cut approx 3" too short leaving WAY to much open space for this intake.

So therefore I am completely UNABLE to install this intake and honestly...unwilling after seeing the quality of this setup.

Wow, you got screwed!! Get ahold of Jason Burtman he'll make everything right, if you even still want the kit...

My holes line up fine, I'm starting to experience some pretty intense vibration (I think maybe the bolts are loosening a bit) so I'm going to install rubber washers under the box. My MAF slot wasn't predrilled either, I just used the self-tapping screws and didn't over-tighten, I'll agree that it seemed kind of cheap. My insulation was only about an inch short.

Sorry to hear about that man. Keep us posted.

Well now knowing that you had to drill your own holes for the MAF makes me feel...well, honestly, no better. Tapping my own holes on a mass produced kit, available to the public seems a bit rediculous to me....though after seeing Volants drilling skills (lack there of) I dont know if I would have wanted them to do the drilling anyway.

I spoke with Jason last night and I will email Joe over at Volant when I return home. Jason was pretty shocked to hear about the issues with the kit. Though I was happy to see that I did get the larger more rectangular filter...

Im currently having my Axxis Ultimate brake pads installed but Ill make damn sure that I get this taken care of. I have seen more precision on $150.00 honda civic intakes

I agree. Dammit, I want the larger filter!! Do you think it will make a difference? The one I got is 6" diameter round at the base and tapers down to 5" at the tip, which is closed. Just a plain ol' round conical. Do you think they sent me the v6 filter? You wouldn't know the answer to that, but I think they might have...

He emailed me back and said that the size I got sounded odd and that he was suprised it even fit at all, which makes sense because it took me all of 10 minutes to get the damn thing on there, after partially destroying the metal mesh surrounding the filter media. He said he was going to check into it and get back to me...

this is so weird.....i havent experienced any problems with mine ....every thing fit and lined up.....
sorry to hear about the trouble...i would expect nothing less than to have volant do everything they can to fix the issues .....let us know what happenes eh?
schwalmy

honestly it must ba a bad kit.....ive got nothing but positivce so far....and fuel econ is a big plus.....
ive run it for 2 tanks now and am getting 40km more per tank....and im still a little heavy on the foot....

Well im excited to install it as I know that once installed and with a few tweaks it will be great but my problem lies in the fact that after 24 hours, i still have gotten no reply from Volant while Connor (OUTRUNNR) has gotten one..

haha:beer: :awais: :p

I wouldn't exactly call it a reply:

I will check into that it sounds kind of odd. I am surprised the filter
fit at all.

Get those sons a bitches on the phone...

Just spoke with Volant....

Happy to report that they are shipping me out a brand new airbox and foam surround. My comment about the predrilled holes on the MAF was incorrect as they dont do that for any of the kits....

So hopefully by midnext week Ill have this thing finally on...thank god because the temps here in Vegas are now in the mid 100's everyday and I could use any increase in power or MPG depending on my mood/foot.

wow, you must have gotten screwed. I hope everything turned out for you. My install sent perfectly except for my novice self installing the MAF backwards and trying to crank it 20 times in a row before I realized something was wrong....(it only took 30 secs to fix)

Im very pleased with mine and until a supercharger comes out this will prob be the last thing Ill do to my engine....

sorry for digging this out of the grave.
i just got my volant intake today and im also dissapointed. my maf dosent even fit in the round hole on the tube. my maf is rectangular and the hole is round.

what does the maf on your v8's look like? i have an 06

Sounds like the messed up on the tube they sent you... All the new 4th gens are running the slot-type maf

just got everything sorted out with volant...they sent me a whole new kit. i put it on and its sounds SICK!!! but it resonates alilttle at wot on the highway, i think that something might be loose. ill tighten it down and put something under the front of the box because it only had 2 mouting points at the rear.

volant is great sounds very mean

unfortunately...their products are decent at best, but their quality control suck major ass. At least their customer service is pretty good.
