This is ridiculous.
I suggested a way to prevent things like this from happening but it seems like the mods never got around to it.
There should be a feature to prevent users that just signed up from creating threads for a 2-3 day period. This will not only prevent spammers like from this morning, but also alot of the "what lift/tire size should i get for my car" thread, which would force these new users to actually READ the stickies to find their answers before they can even create a new thread asking for info thats so readily available

we've been dealing with this on another forum im a mod at.
the spam lately has been terrible.
there we require new members to post in the newbie section first.
and i think they have to have 10 posts before they can start a thread elsewhere.
it helps, but it certainly doesnt stop the spam. but, its atleast contained.

Totally agree , I know when I joined on is300. it was 50 posts , however I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how to prevent this . I know the mods have their hands full but this seems fairly simple fix ?

Spam isn't a big deal as long as mods are active enough to see it right away and delete it.
It's valuable for people to be able to sign up and ask questions right away, it keeps traffic coming to the forum.
I would suggest making the sticky threads a bit more noticeable with some sort of colored text or highlight the thread entirely so it's almost impossible to miss.
would be cool if they made it so when you create a new account a message pops up telling the person to view the stickies before posting their first message.

im still seeing several pages worth...
there are tons still.
and the spam is a big deal. when these bots get in like this, if they dont get removed right away they just sit there and are forgotten about.
then other bots will come in with them, bringing along who knows what. pretty soon they are responding to threads like an actual person. but they just copy a sentence from someone else.
they need to be prevented, or removed right away.

Great job by all the Mods for cleaning that junk mail up !! I know the occasional spammer get thru but that was the most crap I've ever seen , some good prices on meds tho ! :bigok:
