SERIUS Radio ROCKS!!

Hi, all.

I wanted to give satellite radio a try, so I bought and installed a Delphi Roady with a wireless FM adapter and subscribed to XM Radio.

To say the least, I was a little underwhelmed because the signal sounded compressed. Not much in the way of highs, lows or stereo and just kinda flat. I didn't know if I was expecting too much or if there was a problem with my head unit or what.

Anyway, I thought I'd give it one more try so I went back to Best Buy and bought and installed a JVC Sirius receiver. WOW!!

This is what I hoped satellite radio would sound like. Much better sound in all respects. The only thing I can figure is that the JVC dock has the room to accomodate a more sophisticated FM transmitter, so maybe my head unit is just plain getting a better signal.

Anyway, I just thought anyone considering satellite radio would appreciate hearing my experiences. If I discover any more pros or cons I'll keep you posted.

I have Sirius at work and XM in my 4runner and both of them are pretty cool. I do not like the DJ's for Sirius because they suck and not really that funny. The music is pretty good, but you start hearing the same thing over and over because they just play most of the hits. I enjoy the DJ's over at XM, because they are funnier, more entertaining, heck they even cuss. The music IMHO is better on XM because it has variety. People might try to argue their point which is fine. I really do not want to get into an agruement like AMD vs Intel, import vs domestic, coke vs pepsi.

I didn't have the XM long enough to even judge the content - it was the quality that was the problem, but I think that was due to the receiver and the FM adapter involved, not XM vs. SIRIUS. I think it was just the difference in the way the two were broadcasting their signals to the headunit that mattered. I've heard other XM installs and they were just fine.
