I just bought an 07 V8 4WD sport edition w/ 94k miles. It is in great condition and runs great, very happy!

I'm a semi-DIY'er and would like to know what services you all recommend at this mileage on the 4.7L and tranny? I'm thinking plugs, oil, filters, ATF, diff fluid?

I would like to lift the front to take the rake out. I'm thinking Bilstein 5100's all around. Are new springs in order too while they're off? Also, I have a light out in the dash that's suppose to light up the A/C display LCD. Is this common? Easy to fix? Are there dash light kits available?

I know it's a lot of questions from a newb. Sorry and thanks!

Definitely check out the Lift FAQ page..

My opinion is find some FJ coils while doing the swap.. is it needed, no.. but it makes it ride a hell of a lot better.

As for the light
Center Console Lights

Neither is hard to do!! :trophy:

Where abouts should I start looking for FJ springs? Are all FJ springs the same? Year models? Options? Also, do they fit both 4Runner V6 models and V8's the same?

Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the forum!

First off, at that mileage you want to make sure the timing belt and water pump (pulley's, drive belts, etc.) have been done. You can check for an annotation on the top surface of the foremost shroud (above the fan) when you open your hood. If it was dealer serviced, they should have anotated when they did the TB & WP. If you don't see anything you can try registering your VIN on the Toyota owners website to see the dealer serviced history. If nothing points to that service being done, you want to tackle that soon. Look for around $750 at a dealership (at least that's around what I paid). They should exchange your coolant at the same time.

After that you're pretty spot on with plugs, oil, filters, and diff fluid? As for the ATF thing... well it get a little tricky on our trucks. We've got a sealed case with lifetime fluid. Some people still do it for piece of mind, but it's more of a process with these transmissions. Your call. I've got 160K and haven't done mine yet.

If you've not done so, exercise your T-Case by making sure it goes into 4LO easily. If not, you could have issues with a stuck actuator.

Bilsteins would be a great choice and while coils wouldn't be absolutely necessary, at that mileage, why wouldn't you just do all while you're in there? Coils are cheap.

That bulb in your display is a common problem and a super easy fix. If you can't see it at all, then you actually need 2 bulbs. One for each half. It takes removing one bolt. You can find threads on it here. Just use the google search bar above. DO NOT go to a dealership to have them fix it. Mine quoted me $100 for the job (1 hr labor they said). I bought the bulbs from them for like $5 and did in 5 mins. I can do in probably under a minute now.

As far as dash light kits go... I'm not quite sure what you mean. There is a member here (emilianenkov aka Alex) that does custom LED back-light swaps. Just click the T4Rgaugeswaps.com link to the right of the page or PM him.

Hope this helps. LMK if you got any more questions. And again, enjoy that truck and welcome to T4R!

Thanks JustSomeName and superman3043! Good info.

So, I have XREAS. I read a note in the "FJ Spring" thread that it is recommended to leave the lines connected to the shock. IOW, I should leave the stock XREAS shocks in and just change the springs?

The first thing you need to do is change the belt, it was supposed to be changed at 90k. While your in there, you might as well replace the water pump, it's not necessary but not a bad idea.

Do you happen to know where the timing belt is located? I'm not afraid of changing belts and a water pump unless the belt is in a hard to reach spot like the back of the engine.

I know people have mixed feelings on XREAS. And the question is, Is the XREAS worn out at 94k? Would it ride better on a nice set of Bilsteins? Probably.

I do have a line on a full FJC suspension (Bilstein shocks F&R, coils F&R. Fronts are still fully built). It's low miles. I'm not sure what he would sell it all for. Maybe $250?
