Shades...Polarized or Not?

How many of you guys/gals use sunglasses with polarized lenses when driving etc.? Any opinions on what type of driving conditions are good/bad for this type of lense?

I always used polarized sunglasses, I can always tell the extra difference that they make in blocking out the UV ray's, etc. The difference made in blocking glare that can be blinding and dangerous without them makes it worth it. Usually I find myself wearing them more in the dawn and dusk hours when the sun is on the horizon and in my face. I don't usually wear sunglasses if I don't have to.

I have polarized. Much better than nonpolarized. However, if you are the type that break or lose sunglasses often than I wouldn't pay the extra $$$ to buy polarized. For example, my g/f breaks/looses her sunglasses about every 2 months.

Polarized are nice if you are around water or snow on a bright day, but definitely NOT necessary.
I usually always bought polarized, but this time I got a pair of Oakleys that are non-polarized and they are awesome.

I only buy non-polarized to save a little $...I dont lose my sunglasses but I leave them at my friends houses a lot lol so I have 2 backup pairs in my t4r

Polarized for the past 10 years. I have 2 pair of Smith's. One is black polarized the other is brown polarized. Brown's are great for more flat light conditions and they enhance depth perception. They are great for driving around when there's lots of snow as it cuts glare significantly, both off the ground and off other vehicles. Its true they are recommended for boating, to cut glare off the water, though there is a similar effect on snow. They also allow you to see "through" water a bit better. Only downside is that it is difficult to see LCD screens with polarized lenses.

I have polarized... Natives and Arnettes I work outside in the water..rain and near the ocean... I love mine, my eyes hurt after a day thats bright if I dont have them.

without a doubt. polarized. I had emergency surgery on my right eye in SF last year. (that was fun ) and since then I seriously notice the difference. There are some very dark polarized lens suitable for ice and snow available on LLBean and REI. a must have for flying in the arctic. how about you airman?

Thanks for all the replies! I've used polarized lenses for the last 10 years or so. It's time to get a new pair and was interested in everyone's opinion.

Polarized for me. Like one of the earlier posts mentioned, glare is not just annoying, but can be disabling for brief moments. Look for a pair that has an anti-reflective treatment on the back surface of the lenses. This really helps to improve image quality especially if the frame doesn't wrap around and hug your face tightly.

polarized Maui Jim titaniums... all the way... you pay for what you get.. also you only have one set of eyes so take care of those bad boys! =)
