2000 4runner SR5, 105k miles. When do i need to replace the shocks? What brand, what should it cost? I want to make this truck a bit smoother on road as I do not take it off road, ever. In its infancy when i was younger I did, however with a family now the truck has switched rolls. Also, considering a small lift, but would that be a stupid idea for a truck that remains on road if i want to do it for looks only?

i replace my struts and shocks at 200,000 miles and that was WAY too long, yes u should replace them now! i went with monroe sensatrac shocks, from local oreillys for pretty cheep, and i got the rear done in about 2 hours and the fronts in 4 hours. its an easy job if you have the basic hand tools and floor jack.

as far as lift goes i think a 2.5 spacer is the best for your ideas, it gives you the lift and the look but no performance as coil overs, also the price on the spacer is only about $170
