shaking in overdrive?? HELP!

I have a 1995 4 runner V6 4x4. I have been having this problem for about 3 months now and just cant figure it out. It happens in over drive at any speed and any RPM. I have checked the ujoints and no movement at all, and greased ujoints. I have changed the gear oil and added posi traction oil for the clutches. Made sure nuts where tight at the axle and transmission. Also have checked the motor and transmission mounts. When im driving the shifter doesnt shake at all but the dash and steering wheel shakes. Enough to being annoying and numbs my hand. My accelerstion is good and shifting in the transmission is normal. Any suggestions would be apperciated.

I guess it's an auto trans?
It only happens in OD, does it go away if you turn OD Off?

yes its a automatic and it does it in drive but not nearly as bad but it will shake when its close to shifting to 2nd gear.

Go to a tire shop and get your wheels balanced, when I bought my 4runner it did the same thing and I swore up and down that the tires weren't causing it. I looked the whole truck over again and again. Finally I changed 2 tires and it went away completely.

You could rotate your tires to eliminate that possibility, but if it were tire balance, it wouldn't vary with what gear you're in, it would change with MPH.

And what changes as the mph goes up??? Anyone......? Gears.

tires rotated 2 months ago and the problem has been going on longer then that. If it was a tire issue my car would shake in all the shifting gears in the auto trannsmission. It only shakes in OD and really bad at 50-55 mph. UPDATE. i was driving today and i stepped in the gas at 45 mph and the transmission shifted down to 2 and there was no movement only high RPM's. i feel like the tanny is going out but it shifts fine through all the gears. Is it possible that the torque converter is going out, but that would mean it is shaking through all gears right? I know there is a solenoid you can replace where the fluid pan is and should that be changed? I am just lost for problems.... Can anyone explain why the gear selector doesnt shake but my foot, dash, and seat vibes?

Is it possible that the torque converter is going out,

I was thinking may be the TC wasn't unlocking when it should, that's why I asked the OD question above.

yes it goes away with the OD turned off.

I was going to say check your transmission and motor mounts but...man that seems odd.

mounts are good at the tranny and the engine. seriously i have worked on cars for years and this problem has put me weird situation. i just want to get this problem resolved.....

Block it up so that you can shift through the gears in your drive way. MAKE SURE YOU BLOCK IT UP GOOD. And point it away from the house. Get someone to shift through the gears while you get underneath and look. Sounds like your last option. I had to do it one time when the sound of a cowbell was coming from my front end every time I hit a bump. Couldn't hurt to try...
