Shaking when breaking

For a couple of weeks now my steering wheel starts shaking (forth and back maybe half an inch) when I break. It's only noticeable at higher speeds (>45 mph). There is no pull to one side so I doubt it's a stuck calliper. Any ideas?

Tires were recently balanced. If it were a balancing issue I should have a vibration when driving at high speeds and not just when breaking, no?

short answer is, its the rotors. brake pulsation. typically caused from uneven friction material build up. unfortunately the only real way to solve it is to resurface, or replace the rotors. if they are still thick enough, a resurface is a good choice. but, along with the resurface(or new rotors) you must also replace the brake pads. as the pads have now worn into the rotor surface, and will no longer be smooth, and perfectly true to the new rotor surface.

once the work has been performed, its very important to do a proper break in on the initial test drives, to help prevent pulsation in the near future.
 
I'm having the same exact issue. I already replaced my brake pads and rotors and flushed all of my brake fluid. I'm still having the same problem and now suspect it is likely a frozen (or multiple frozen calipers) causing this issue. After the pads and rotors, there was no vibration at all during braking from 45mph+ but after about 6 months, it has returned.
 
Thanks for the answers. Will start with front rotors and pads and hope that will solve the issue. Is this something that should be done asap or is it just a nuisance but won't really damage anything?

Another corporate that's possible, 1 I had with this situation.
LCA bushings. Change them to poly, and finally got rid of the problem.
 
Rotors warp easily on these trucks, upgrade to 5th gen front brakes ( rotors pads) and it dramatically helps the issue. ( Does not solve it)
