shaky at 60-65mph

I have been having a vibration issue at about 60 mph. it lessens above about 65. I've had a couple places look at the suspension and joints, drivetrain, etc, and they can't find anything wrong with it.

Sort of a newbie but I'd like to learn more.

any ideas?

Im sure you've checked already but tires balanced? I too am a newb but from what i can gather it is fairly important to have properly balanced tires particularly if running large and or mud tires...

Improperly balanced or warped wheels can cause this and is the first thing to investigate.

the wheels and tires are brand new (BFGoodrich A/Ts - 31's) and I've had them balanced at two different places - neither of which worked. I'm going to call the place i got the wheels from to see what I can do about replacing the wheels with the new tires and seeing what happens.

The other thing to mention is that I had this problem before the new wheels and tires were installed. I was sorta hoping that would solve the problem all together.

Check the CV axles up front, you may have an axle getting ready to go. Also run the truck in the air on a lift. Look for any of the wheels to wobble or hop. Good luck:)

Could be a wheel bearing, steering stabilizer ...
Have you tried rotating wheels from front to back to rule out a front tire?

Not likely a CV joint, they show up as a clunking type noise when steering is at full lock.

were your old wheels and tires balanced, its likely that they too were unbalanced from what Ive read it seems to be difficult to properly balance large tires (31" and over) I also get a shakiness at around 110-120kms which I believe is pretty close to 60-65mph Its nothing major just a little unnerving, it definitely feels like its coming from the tires being slightly of balance but it does'nt bother me too much and the highest speed limit around here is 120kmph...:lookout:

Thanks guys, I'm going to try one more time balancing since that's what everyone is recomending.

We had similar issues, but were addressed in stages of improvements. You might check the following:
1. tire balance and condition(ie broken cord, etc.)
2. warped rotors
3. improper torque on wheel bearings
4. worn or faulty driveline mounts (ie motor, trans, etc.)
5. suspension bushings(lateral rod, control arms, a-frames)
6. ball joints.
7. steering linkage
