We'll first off I want to thank everybody on here for some great threads.
I've been watching T4R for a few months and finally picked up my '97 just before thanksgiving.
Buying it I knew there would be many mods to come, not knowing ALL the possibilities. I plan to keep this thread up and running for a bit while I make head way on my build. I'd love to hear feedback from anyone on any easy, inexpensive mods or questions comments concerns. Thanks guys
-Shane

:welcome:

What are your plans for it?

Toytec OME coil spring 3" suspension lift
285/75/17's A/T steel wheels
Just looking to keep it a daily driver, but make sure it's ready to hit the trails when we go camping, canoeing, to the shooting range, or just around the farm.
I'm in the process of drawing up my bumpers (front & rear, with tire swing) right now. Hopefully get the lift ordered in the next week or two. And start the welding on bumpers by the end of January.

Its like Christmas came...AGAIN

So I ended up ordering bilstein 5100 shocks, and toytec/eibach coil springs, super excited to install this weekend, as long as my Land cruiser springs come in on time. Plus I got all the metal to start the bumper build, so Saturday and Sunday will be a blast!! More pics to come!!

Yakima/ Thule Roof Rack

Also I scored a free roof rack from my sister in-law, she thought it was ugly, I thought it was great, and she said take it, FREE is my favorite 4 letter F word...

Then I threw on my Thule Bigmouth bike racks for when we hit up Slaughter Pen Trails.

BUMPER BUILD!!!!
So as you can see in the pictures I built a card board bumper.. It makes for a GREAT template and is much more forgiving than metal haha. So This bumper has been one heck of a what seems to be never ending project. All the angles and geometry are what have killed me, but hopefully by this weekend ill have it finished and then install my LC springs and Toytec lift! Im about to blast this thread with pictures of the bumper build.

I am subbing to you, I want to build my own front plate bumper as well! Good to see others wanting that as well! Plus it's well cheaper!! Good start mate..:nicethread:

Its awesome to see this rig being treated killer. I was one day to late in buying it myself. Im in Siloam Springs. Im excited to see the end result on your bumper. Would you consider making another? Here is the runner I found since you beat me to yours :)

Ill be subscribing to your build and cant wait to meet up with you out and about or on the trails

Thanks man,
Im hoping it all starts to come together here quickly. Then rear bumper with tire swing will be in the works.

I'll Go ahead and tell you this, BUILD THE WHOLE THING FROM CARDBOARD first. I had so many different angles and cuts here and there and blah blah blah, I still have the whole template...
And i built the entire bumper for $67. It makes life easy when you have all the right tools and a place to work.

Hey man, sorry for the late reply. I haven't planned on building any others, but if you had a welder and plasma cutter or some kind of metal cutter I'd be willing to come over to Siloam and bring my cardboard template.

So I installed the lift this weekend!
Toytec eibach springs on bilatein 5100 struts in the front and LC 80 8 wrap coils in the rear with new set of LC 80 Monroe shocks from o'reillys auto parts. The lift was only supposed to be 3", so I assume it will settle, but I'm happy where it's at.
From the measurements it totaled at 3.75" in the front and 4.25" in the rear. Has a .50" rake but it looks sweet. I'm a short guy and it feels incredibly taller. I love the look
