Hey guys,

So I got a bug with a friend of mine and we are planning a huge trip for next June 2015. 4-5.5 weeks I think. Between 5-6,500 miles. Here is a really really rough idea of the route>> https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Tucson,+AZ/Seattle,+WA/Whistler,+BC,+Canada/Glacier+National+Park,+West+Glacier,+Mt/Missoula,+Mt/Yellowstone+National+Park/Kremmling,+CO/Aspen,+CO/Ouray,+CO/Tucson,+AZ/@44.7651757,-123.0504291,7z/data=!4m92!4m91!1m25!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ced2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.926479!2d32.2217429!3m4!1m2!1d-119.9057287!2d34.4324164!3s0x80e9473f8cab540d:0xe52b2141be897e24!3m4!1m2!1d-121.4457216!2d35.8756836!3s0x8092bcf22967fbbd:0xb680985b1e5b07be!3m4!1m2!1d-123.8061011!2d39.4345243!3s0x80803557364e8841:0xa4db43b3749ac264!3m4!1m2!1d-124.1521032!2d43.8067854!3s0x54c3d003ad0d7a97:0xcbfac503b7de42cf!1m5!1m1!1s0x5490102c93e83355:0x102565466944d59a!2m2!1d-122.3320708!2d47.6062095!1m15!1m1!1s0x54873cb203957b87:0x4ab741e875f5cff6!2m2!1d-122.9573563!2d50.1163196!3m4!1m2!1d-120.3074884!2d50.5981172!3s0x537e2ed0cf7af427:0x9c37bc80248eadc!3m4!1m2!1d-115.5869735!2d51.1868587!3s0x5370ca7da1583dbb:0xafad921aad862087!1m5!1m1!1s0x5368901555555555:0xaf16bc2215c55dec!2m2!1d-113.787022!2d48.759613!1m5!1m1!1s0x535dcc2a50f367cb:0xe9e31277ca94802e!2m2!1d-114.011667!2d46.8625!1m5!1m1!1s0x5351e55555555555:0xaca8f930348fe1bb!2m2!1d-110.588455!2d44.427963!1m5!1m1!1s0x876a0310eaaf8967:0x91adef6f27328cf0!2m2!1d-106.3889199!2d40.0588744!1m5!1m1!1s0x8740397cf7413c7d:0xc12b42dc782cf672!2m2!1d-106.8175387!2d39.1910983!1m5!1m1!1s0x873f1f7caf7386f3:0x9003c80400295bdd!2m2!1d-107.6714487!2d38.0227716!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ced2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.926479!2d32.2217429!3e0
If you guys have any thoughts of what would be awesome to do along this please let me know! I am also looking for some OHV and 4WD trails and areas to hit on this trail. If anyone also wants to tag along on portions that would be cool too! We will be doing mostly camping with the occasional hotel/town trip to clean up a bit.

So please share ideas, thoughts, opinions, anything at all! Thanks guys!
:peace:

If you care to head a little further east into NM I've got some great trails near me in Alamogordo I could show you, you could visit White Sands National Monument, even head on over to the Carlsbad Caverns, then head north and hit some trails near Albuquerque on your way north. Looks like an epic trip already!!!

If you end up in Ouray the last week of June, let me know. I hope to be there for the San Juan Solstice.

Also, you really should consider dropping down into New Mexico as mentioned. I'm always torn between Colorado and NM as being the best place in the country to live and play.

This is going to be an awesome trip. I did almost this exact trip in 2012 (minus the canada portion).

A ranger pointed us to grassy lake road. It is in between Grand Teton NP and Yellowstone. It is a dirt road that connects 191 and Ashton Idaho. Camping in Yellowstone is $30 a night. Camping on Grassy Lakes road is primitive but free. I would recommend it. Watch out for bears though.

Here is the trip report. T4Rman's 3rd Summer Trip (the big one) - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum

And the video (dont laugh, I was just starting to learn how to work a camera) Epic Trip 2012 on Vimeo

I would highly recommend going on a big trip like this. All of my friends that have done similar trips say the same thing. Its a lot of planing and a lot of money but it is totally worth it.

Yeah, me and my friend were on a really right budget so we camped and stayed with friends along the route. Since that trip I have discovered VRBO.com. If I was going to do it again I would definitely grab a hotel or a vacation rental house for 2-3 days. Camping for a month or more is tough, sometimes it's nice to have a bed and a shower.

I can't remember the exact number but I think we spent around $2k on the trip. The majority of that was gas.
