Additional stories? We are the 2nd Owner. (1st was a doctor). I took it to my senior prom in High School. It was my Mom's truck first, but I have inherited it since. Always loved the 4runner so much that when I bought my '08 I never parted with the '96. We call the '96 "Old Faithful", and it's in amazing shape for it's age.

When did you buy it? 4/27/2011

What city/state did you buy it in? Mint Hill (Charlotte, North Carolina)

What year/model did you buy? 2002 Sport Edition 4X4

How many miles were on the car? 157,000

Salvaged/Clean title? Any accidents? Clean, no accidents or dents

How much did you buy it for? $7,700 cash

Additional stories? I will just cut & paste most of my original post from last year when I found it.

Found it last night about 2:30am.
Was a 3 hour drive away, bought it this afternoon and drove it home.

I can not believe my luck, I got a 2002 Sport Edition 3.4L
Black paint in really good shape only a couple of minor scratches, no dents no rust.
Interior is grey and Sportcloth and in really good shape, which is what I wanted, no tears or even much of what you could call any dirty spots. I don't like leather seats unless they are made by Rolls Royce.
Has 157xxx miles but has been VERY well maintained, had all records. A folder about 3" thick with everything done, every oil change etc for the entire time he owned it.
Already has external transmission cooler installed.
Ball joints were replaced by Toyota on recall about 60,000 miles ago.
Has Toyota 17" FJ Cruiser wheels, brand new Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour tires 255/75R17.
Already has the deck plate mod and rear diff breather mod.
K&N air filter

Has a decent brush guard & lights on bumper.

Nicely tinted windows all around.
Has a remote start.
Has Weather Tech Mats front rear and cargo area.
really nice stereo with remote and MP3 and Sat radio hookup.

Has a 3" OME Lift kit, 883/ 891 coils and new shocks all around.

New battery

Never even really been off roaded, just a few trips on the beach is about it.

Probably a few other odds and ends that I am not thinking of right now.

All extremely well maintained and for $7,700.00 total.

Considering what I was finding in my area for the 30+ days I was looking this was an absolute steal, nothing else even came close unless it was at Carmax for $14,000+ and dead stock.
The only thing I have had to do to it was replace water pump at 161,000 miles.
I also replaced all fluids to 100% synthetic and added rock sliders.

When did you buy it? 4/2012

What city/state did you buy it in? Denver, CO (a suburb actually, but I am/was new here and don't remember which one)

What year/model did you buy? 1999 SR5 Limited, V6, 5-speed, locking dif, leather, REAL wood trim (versus the imitation burl stuff that's on most of them), factory security, sunroof, etc. All of the bells and whistles save power seats for some reason (a good thing in my book)

How many miles were on the car? 138K

Salvaged/Clean title? Any accidents? Totally clean, all vin stickers matching and in the proper place. A few (2) very minor dents in the rear bumper, leaky valve cover gasket, leaker transfer case seal, and broken sway bar linkage (all of these things are going to be replaced as I build up the rig or are easy to address and should be anyway at this point), one minor tear in the drivers' seat upholstery and a tear in the dash pad at the passengers' knee.

How much did you buy it for? $9,400 cash

Additional stories? I moved to the high rockies with my '62 VW bus daily driver, and the daily altitude change between my house and Denver/Boulder was a bit more of a spread than my performance carbs could handle without being lean/rich at one end or the other. Additionally, my driveway is at a 60% angle, loose gravel/sand, and has an s-curve to it. The tall, rear drive, open dif, skinny tired, swing axled bus wasn't cutting it in the warm, snow-free conditions, and this Texas boy didn't care to tempt the snow and ice with the same. It was a very sad day (I shed a tear or two), but the bus had to go. I sold it at my full asking price (discounted a bit to get it sold before the next snow), got cash in advance, with as much time and use of the bus as I needed to research, locate, and purchase a replacement vehicle. I spent about 2 solid weeks as if it were my job (as in all day long, only focused on finding the car), and located my 4Runner. The seller was a meticulous sort of guy, he had a big stack of service records from the time he owned it, and the service book was filled out by the previous owner. The minor stuff didn't bother me too much, so we did the deal. The exchange was made, the bus was shipped, and I ended up with just under a grand of playing money to boot.

What city/state did you buy it in? Woodinville, WA
What year/model did you buy? 2000 SR5
How many miles were on the car? 120,000
Salvaged/Clean title? Any accidents? None
How much did you buy it for? $9,000
Additional stories?
I bought my 4runner from a dealer about 15 miles away, originally went to look at a different 4runner there, but it was totally rusted out, but then the owner showed me the 4runer that i bought. It was in great condition with no rust what so ever! I learned that the timing belt and water pump had been done at 100k miles and the previous owner took very good care of it. After taking it for a test drive and inspecting it very carefully i knew that this was the one!

Then I remembered that they made the 4runners in a 5 speed so I started looking and found one 30 min from my house. At first was kinda iffy about the miles but he was the original owner bought it brand new for 32 or 35k. He also had a stack of paper work and records of maintenance so I went for it! Now has 218,000 miles and haven't had any issues!! Drove it to Florida and Myrtle beach last year back to back from Indiana!
