I was able to enlighten my friends about the 120 chassis family of vehicles. Are there any shared with the N. American models of LC, Highlander, Sequoria or Tundra?

The ones I know is Tundra/Sequoia, LC/LX570, Highlander/RX (Camry, ES, Sienna too).

Is that what you mean?

And... IIRC the 2010 4Runner/Prado/FJC/GX460 are technically '150' chassis vehicles. Given the suspension components interchange and the FJC is unchanged to the untrained eye the changes are, obviously, minor.

the only other 120 frame in us is the gx470. The tundras frame is not fully boxed. The land cruiser frame is on another level and is far more robust than the 120 frame in both the 100 and 200 series.

The 2010 4 runner has no identifiable differences between the frames of it's predecessor. I've been underneath both of them comparing them.
 
Are guys 'boxing in' the truck frames? or is it that simple? Seemed like there would be a market for it.

Visual inspection will be tough. The frame may look the same, but the steel thickness may be a few mm different or there may be additional internal stiffening plates in the boxed frame. I sure hope that Toyota has learned its lesson with the FJ Cruiser and has made the 2010 frame a bit stronger or tougher.

:iagree: 100% I would take it one step further, I wouldn't be surprised if there was no visual difference except for better welding around the motor mounts. I would expect the same thickness too.

If I were at Toyota I'd be inclined to seek out a minor change in the alloy to improve strength and resistance to corrosion. IMHO that'd be the quickest, best, least expensive fix. (Little or no re-engineering involved.)
