After a couple years of hemming and hawing, I'm digging my little Black Friday Antero, too!

Now I'm pondering material choice for a platform for a folding chair, cooler and umbrella for watching trains go by deep in the Mojave desert. Plywood, obviously, would work, but I wonder what else would....?

i totally see bugs bunny burrowing a tunnel in the sahara and out pops an umbrella, chair and glass of iced lemonade. they self-arrange, life is grand, and then he realizes he knew he shoulda taken that left toin at alba-qwerkey.

would you be wanting to sit on top of the roof on that platform? a series of aluminum planks, perhaps filled with expanded foam, would keep the weight down and could be stowed fairly compactly. a couple more rack bars than the standard seven could help to keep deflection to a dull roar. seat belt webbing could keep it all from separating.

The Antero is plenty strong. I cut a piece of 3/4" plywood and bolted it to the rack. I have it off at the moment or I'd take a pic. The umbrella mount needs some refinement.

Any chance you'll do a taller fairing? I inquired last year and heard at the time it was not in your list of considerations. I have an RTT that could use better wind deflection and bug protection. Thanks

Most all awning mounts work great. A lot of people run the ARB awning mounts, I have fabricated simple L brackets before for an ARQ awning. Some people even just source 1/4" L brackets and drill some holes. Im sure prinsu awning mounts would work as well.

Here is an example of a simple L bracket..

What size bolt head fit in the tracks of the cross bars? Thinking of doing the same with the L bracket to install my awning. I have the Sherpa Matterhorn rack and crossbars.

You can use 1/4" carraige bolts but we reccomened using our drop in tnuts and the appropirate length hardware as they have a much better bite in the extrusion.

Installed! Instead of using the front pressure feet, I extended the rails with factory parts to hold the front feet. With a little bend of the front brackets (and removed rubber bits), it works great!

I didn't drop the headliner all the way, there's enough access with the A/B/C pillar trim, grab handles and visors removed. Just as a warning - it is MUCH more difficult to do with a sunroof. There is a lot less room, both above and below the roof.
