Lbj's, outer and inner tie rods made my truck feel like new again. It was never sloppy, but I wanted to avert making a lbj fail thread. So since I was doing the lbj's I figured I should do the inner and outer tie rods too. My alignment is 99% spot on( I had one done 2 months ago). I'll go get another one to make it back to 100%. Again my truck never felt loose or sloppy, I have 115k. But I'm glad I did it. Steering feels like new.

nice. Just curious did you do the steering rack bushings and sway bar bushings too? I noticed a great improvement after replacing those. Cost all of $40 total.

where did you get all the parts? approx how much did it all cost you? I am looking to do the same thing plus the steering rack bushings as well. Just wanna know how much I need, cuz I want wheels and tires too. So much to do.

I did the sway bar bushings with new end links 2 months ago, it was a small improvement but definitely worth it, I bought polys for sway and end links.

About $150.00 for napa premium lbj's.(I got a 20% discount). Then amazon had a sale on beck/arnely inner and outer tie rod's made from japan. $135.00 for tie rods. Have a torque wrench.

How did you replace the inner tie rods?

I pulled out the lbj-outer tie rod and inner tie rod in one shot.
Remove the lbj
pull tie rod boot off, the inner boot ring needs a special tool,to reuse the ring again, u can just use a heavy duty zip tie to replace it.
Then there are 2 tabs bent onto the inner trod, bend them forward then use a pipe wrench or I believe a 24mm wrench to remove.
So the inner, outer and lbj come out in one piece. Hope this helps.

I have used B/A parts before on Acuras and Hondas with good results.

I think last year Brian2sun proclaimed that the steering has to be as tight as a duck's ass to be considered tight. That statement alone kept me off this board for a year.

Sorry, its pretty easy, the only fuss I ran into was aligning the castle nut on the lbj, but very doable.Plus I worked in very tight quarters outside.

Factory inner tie rod to rack are 42mm and 30mm (yes i bought the wrenches for this)

outer tie rod/ toe adjustment is 27 and 28mm IIRC (those are actually in the truck still or I would double check them)

I agree night and day difference after freshening everything up. I still need to pick up some new tires and get rid of the abused rotors to have 100% perfect ride, but there is no better feeling than the confidence of having everything new under the truck.
