Got it through ebay for $40, I was looking for a Lexus GX470 shift knob, but those were too pricey. This shift knob is not long enough though to cover the narrow portion where to screw the shift knob portion. If you look at the second picture you will notice it slightly, where the shift knob ends on the shifter. It doesn't look bad at all though and is hardly noticable. Still has the stock look to it at any angle. I tend to drive with my right hand on the knob and this feels far superior than the plastic rubber shift knob that it comes with.

The 06 SR5 gets a plastic knob now? They used to get the same leather knob that came on the Limiteds.

I'd like to know how to make a manual shift knob work too. I did the same thing and bought one (Momo) and now I'm trying to figure out if I wasted $70

u could wrap the shaft with electrical tape...and twist the shift knob onto it to keep it from bunchin up...some knobs...like mine...come with plastic inserts...and screws...but i have an "8 ball"...i have a 5spd...so it doesnt look retarded...

I actually got it to work. Just had to use slightly longer screws and screw a little bit at a time

I have tried two different shift knobs. Actually three. The first one was an aftermarket aluminum knob. Froze my han in the winter & burned in the summer. It looked good; but felt like junk.
Lets start with the factory knob. Not very sporty. And if you drive with your hand on the shifter, it will leave a groove in your palm.
Next I tried a factory Lexus knob. I looks good and feels good. It was a bit small for my hand, and it was always reflecting the sun up under my sunglasses.

I once purchased a billard ball (#3), drilled and tapped it, for a shift knob. It is very cool, and definitely a PITA to build. It is also a bit large. If I were to do it again, I would drill & tap for the 1/2" course thread, and epoxy in the adapter for the M8x1.25 threads.
This might sound strange; but my favorite shift knob is a plain black, plastic, industrial knob. This can be purchased many places; but I got mine from John Deere. This knob is slick, good size, and does not freeze or burn your hand. This is an easy knob to aquire, and total cost is about $15, if that matters to anyone.
