$93.45 for a shift knob? Isn't that steep?

I had a 8 ball laying around so i did this for the heck of it.
It did come out just a bit off center because I don't have a drill press. But the wife thinks its fun. And if I ever get tired of it I can put the stock one back.
I used a 1/4" drill bit to make the hole and then tapped it with a M8 tap.

I like the size and feel of the billiard balls. I have a #3 Red one, in my red muscle car.
In the 4Runner I would have to use a black ball, to make it match the interior; but the conotations of the 8-ball were too much for me. That is how I ended up with the industrial model (sold by many supply companies).
A suggestion for the billiard ball installation. The interior of the billiard balls is not very strong. Drill and tap it for 1/2" course threads, and glue a thread adapter into the larger hole (1/2" course to M8x1.25). This is a much more sturdy way to mount the cool billiard balls.
If you like the 8-ball, yours definitely looks good. I know it feels better than the factory knob, if you drive with your hand resting on the shift lever (usually with the wife's hand included).

I definitely could have taken some more time with it and did your 1/2" hole / adapter suggestion. If it ends up breaking I will find one of those John Deere knobs, because I do like the feel of the round handle. At around $15 you can't go wrong. Do you have the part number for the knob and adapter?

I picked it up at Tacoma Screw . John Deere usually had this part, but they were out. It is a common part. Automotive, screw products, industrial supplies, etc, should have one. Call around, and save yourself the driving.

You posted it properly. May be a problem with the image functions in the forum, or the way the url is layed out. Maybe the "(50)" caused the trouble; not sure.
That knob looks like it is all metal. If so, how does your hand feel in the winter/summer, if you rest your hand there for more than a few seconds?
:I had an all metal shift knob for a short time. It would suck the heat out of my hand in the winter, and burn it in the summer. I like to have a comfortable knob.
Sometimes I am too practical. Always function over bling. That is why I switched out the shift knob in the first place. The ridges in the factory knob were uncomfortable to rest my hand on.

Yeah, I didn't really like the factory knob. I immediately changed it out for this one. It's a lot smoother and comfy to rest my hand upon. I think it was a little hot to the touch in the summer (it's been 3 years since I used it in a car) but so far during the winter, it's been alright...but the winters are mild here in NC.
I like your knob a lot. I may try yours out once I get this grill thing worked out and get my new muffler on the truck.
