Noticed this the other day after I got new tires put on. Was running about 45+ and it was a wave(ish) motion forward and back slightly. Now it is an automatic 2wd. Also running above 60 it has a noticeable acoustical vibration. Thinking the transmission mount may be the cause. It's super smooth below highway speeds. I know pinion angles affect vibration. Thoughts?

Might just be the bushings in the shifter starting to fail. They get brittle and fall apart then the shifter gets sloppy.

Mine has always had a little movement back and forth while driving and accelerating on the high way. I have had 3 different 3rd gens and they all did that. I always thought it was part of the design. I did replace my bushings as noted above, but that was only after I got a rattle that sounded like a bunch of plastic pieces were loose.
The bushings fixed the rattle, but I still have the play. The truck drives fine!

I can't recall for sure, but I think there is also an adjuster screw or something in there somewhere. Mine moves around a bit as well and it's on my to-do list.
I Just need to order the bushings first.

Mine does it as well. I believe it's normal.
Ok. Now I have to figure out the vibration.

It's odd. Not shaking the whole truck but more like a rumble strip kind of sound. I need to drive it again and investigate further. Thanks for all the input so far

That's new to me. I'm interested to see what you find.
Well I took my daughter to school in it and over 72/73mpg it smooths out. It's more of a buzzing sound. I don't feel any shimmy in the steering wheel it feels more like it's directly underneath me. I do need to do brakes on all four corners. Axle seals leaked and ruined the rears. Front rotors are warped big time. It needs shocks and struts as well. Could just be a harmonic issue related to the worn brakes and suspension.
My shifter vibrates just like yours, but I can't hear any noise associated with it. And it does smooth out after 70mph or so too.
I've replaced my engine/trans mounts, new gears, and new brakes, so it's none of those. More of an aggravation than anything. U joints don't have any play either.
On an unrelated note, since I've done my body lift, it's very hard to shift/keep in gear on my even numbered gears (2nd, 4th, and reverse). Wondering if I have to remove the shifter and bend it a little? Idk.
