shifter knob help, please!!

so i got a new shifter knob for christmas and i can't figure out how to remove the old one it's on a 97' manual 4runner, the shifter knob i got says it fits toyotas, I found some info on it but for automatic shifters and they say to just unscrew counter clock wise, well when i do that it just twists and nothing happens. thank you in advance for anyone who can help me out

Righty tighty lefty loosey, unless its already aftermarket, it spins off.

Some aftermarket ones have a small set screw that holds it on.

chances are it hasn't been removed in a long time, if ever. Try to really torque on it. It should just unscrew.

i tried the rubber piece spins but it doesn't come off it feels like its not gripping the nut or whatever that's inside of the knob?

Try pulling up HARD on it as you turn it counter clock-wise. Maybe pull
down on the stick as you pull up and turn the nob to the left.

is there a bottom piece under the shifter knob the unscrews? if there is unscrew it and then there should be a little hole on the bottom of the shifter knob where you stick an allen wrench in there and unscrew it and it should come right off
