shifter stuck when im stoped

lately when my truck gets warmed up whenever im completely stopped its hard too shift into any gear like its hard too put it into gear. but once i get moving each gear slides in just fine. i cant hear any gears clunking or anything when its stuck and i force it into the gear. could it be my clutch??

Mine does this sometimes too. I can ease off my clutch just a little bit while easing it into gear and it will slide right in. I don't let off enough for the gears to grind though. Sometimes when I can't get it into reverse, I'll try to put it into 1st, and then back to reverse and it will then slide right in. Little things I love about my 4runner. Sucks when I let somebody else drive it though.

I sometimes have the same problem but it hasn't felt bad at all. Just a tad sticky. or downshifting into first is a tad tough (I've been told 4runners loathe 1st gear). Sometimes I can't shift from 4wd into 2wd, but once I'm on the fly and moving then it will shift. And X2 on letting other people drive it lol

yeah its just im not sure if i go out wheeling my tranny isnt going too just break apart inside or something then im stuck haha

Any manual transmission will do this occasionally if the gears are not matched up when they stop. If it's happening all the time, you have a problem... If it's only so often, then it's normal.

I've found with all my manual transmissions that it's easier to shift into 1st if you go into 2nd first. When I stop, I always shift into 2nd while I'm stopping, then after stopping push up into 1st. My Jeep was particularly bad about going directly into 1st.

yeah its alllll the time.
am i looking into getting a new tranny then. i notice that its only when its hot though. could it just be my clutch??

It could just be the clutch... Also, have you checked your oil level in the transmission?

Sounds like a clutch problem. Have you ever changed the transmission oil?

yeah i just changed it last week still doing it. i was looking at the marlin transmissions for my truck like $1200 dollars!! is there anywhere else i can get one if i really do need one??

Look on craigslist or buy a junk truck. I bought another junk 4runner for $150, took the transmission and sold parts off the truck for over $500, and I've got tons of spare parts...
