Shim for a 4th Gen receiver shackle?

I just bought a receiver mounted shackle for my '07 4R with the 2" receiver. I noticed that there seems to be a lot of slack (at least an 1/8th of an inch) for it to wiggle around in there. I have the same problem with my Yakima trailer mount bike rack as well.

Have any of you experienced this or have you created some kind of shim to fill the void? I also have noticed that the hole for the bolt or pin to go through is very close to the end of the receiver, which makes everything stick out farther than it does on other vehicles I have owned in the past. Anyone else experience this?

the shackle that i bought fits pretty nicely so I dont have that problem but with the bike rack, i have that problem all the time. It moves around a little too much for my comfort. I just thought it was the bike rack but I am about to buy a new one soon. But no help on the shackle.

What brand shackle did you buy? The one I bought seems to stick out pretty far too.

i would have to check. i just picked it up at a local offroad shop. Mine seemed like it stuck out when i first got it but now it looks good. I guess i just got used to it. My receiver also has a step though and so it already sticks out about 5 inches. Something to think about it painting it though. I painted mine red and it looks really good.
