Shipping on brush guard

Hi Folks,
Okay, so, I had a buddy pick up a brush guard from another forum member for me. He says no worries, I'll send it to ya, I think cool, brush guard was free. He is in San Francisco area, and I am in the Panhandle of Florida. Shipping is not cheap via UPS or FedEX. Hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Anyone know of any freight companies? Unless maybe if someone is in the area, heading east, pass on to another member, who passes on to another member? LOL! My other choice is driving from one end of the country to the other and back. Ideas?

To be honest, theres not a chance in hell you're going to get members to shuttle the brush guard for you, partly because of the gas money, and the time it takes to organize that sort of thing. lol. That said, shipping isnt even worth it. You're better off just looking for a used on in your area.
 
Yea, I figured it'd be a PITA to do the truffle shuffle with it! LOL! Figured I'd try!, I'll look into the greyhound thing.
 
All that for a brush guard? Most guys just throw them in the trash cause they don't add anything. You sure it's worth it?
 
You can buy a hunter brush guard on ebay. Westing brand is much harder than hunter, but cost more and cost more in shipping.


If you drive to SFO and back in your 4runner you will use about $1000 of gas and motel and food another $300? Buy an ARB bull bar.

I saw a guy selling a brush guard on CL in Houston, TX. Just check CL around your area. You'll find one in 2-3 weeks.
 
It doesn't appear to be the stock. I don't need an ARB type bumper, here in the Panhandle of Florida, most all you need is 2WD, and lights to get back in the clay roads and palmetto patches to the field for late night bonfires. I just wanted something cheap to protect the front, and for free and $100 shipping on greyhound, I can live with that. I'll clean it up and it'll serve it's purpose.

Why would you want a brushguard anyways? If it ever "does it's job" it will cause much more damage than if it weren't there...
 
Lol i thought about saying what the rest of you guys are saying. But it seems like hes made his point of it to himself, and is aware of other options. 100 isnt so bad to get it across the continent especially if its free. Be sure to post pictures up once you get it!
 
What year is your 4runner? What you have in the pic is for long bumper 99, 00, 01 and 02 models. It still fits to a 96, 97 and 98....

Yeah! :bravo: When I bought the t4R several months ago, it had the original Toyota brush guard, I told my mechanic he could have it if he didn't charge me to take it off.

BTW, the think had worn the paint off of the fender where it was hitting during vibration over bumps. It had a small rubber piece attached to it, so that is what would hit the fender, but it still chipped off the paint.
 
i sold mine to some poor sap for $320... after i beat the living crap out of it wheeling it and pushing vehicles with it... that money went to reduce the price of my ARB...
 
HMMMM...... what is such the outcry against the brush guards? I mean, it's not for ramming things, its for brush. It's so all the branches and leaves with squirls living in them to push away from the body. I can see if your wheeling hard, it not living up to the standard, but its not for treating like a battering ram. I'll keep an eye on paint rubbing though, cause that would not be cool.

I do have a 97, so, maybe when I get this, it may look a little goofy, if so, I'll find someone with a fishlip bumper and give it to them.
