Shock recommendations

All,

New to the group and to 4runner community. Have an 03 with 207000 miles that I am building with my son for him. I put a 3" Cornfed spacer lift on it last year. It's great. Leveled the rig and rides great with a nice look. I was recently informed that I need to replace shocks. I am also in the process of looking for tires for my new SCS Ray10 17" wheels. Question is: When reading about shocks, ie Bilstein 5100 & 6112's, I see comments about height and lift. Is this in addition to the spacer lift or will the shocks replace the spacer? If shock literature states up 2.55" does that mean I can not use it if my vehicle is lifted 3 inches.

Sorry for the noob question but I am new to all this as I have always been a sports car guy till recently.

Goal is to have a leveled 3 inch lift that can handle armor in the near future with as close to 33" tires that is safe for my son.

The front shocks have snap ring grooves to install the coil spring at varying levels of preload, thus causing different ride heights depending on which snap ring groove you choose. I'd do away with the spacer lift in the front because they can lead to overcompressed shocks, causing shock failure. You can remove the spacer lift and install the bilstein at the "highest" setting and you will end up with a truck that is 2.25" higher in the front than stock but about .75" lower than your current spacer setup.
