Shocks and/or suspension upgrades?

Hello everyone. I'm new to the site and glad I'm now a member.

I own a '97 4runner with 90K. Truck is in good shape but is need of new shocks. I'm not using the truck for any off road use and I'm interested in increasing the handling of the truck on the highway. Any thoughts on shocks and/or suspension upgrades?

If you want a stiffer ride and better handling, then i would get Bilstein shocks. These shocks should provide you with better handling with less brake dive, while lasting forever (supposedly). But the ride will be firmer than stock.

As for suspension mods to make it handle better, i have no clue because most people modify their suspension for better off-road capability.

OME sells nice setups along with the Bils and Performance Products 1" lift coils. The Bils with the stock coils isn't the best riding setup and really should be coupled with the PP coils.

IMO and many other others is the Rancho are pretty crappy shocks on the 4Runners and very few people run them.

The other and little bit cheaper option is to go with OEM Toyota shocks coupled with the '99 coils since it'll ride like stock but you get the extra lift. The shocks Toyota uses are made by Tokico.

He mentioned that he do not use the truck off-roading and looking for on-road performance. OME is a good setup, but it would lift the truck.

Ooops,sorry. Then definetly avoid the Bils on the street too and maybe just stick with Toyota parts and keep it stock. If you want better handling then go with better front and rear sway bar kits sold here........
