Hey guys, I need to put new struts and shocks on my 1999 limited. Now the dealer wants 360 for all 4. They say that my vin requires the most expensive ones and that they don't know if the sr5 OEM shocks would fit. Do any of you know if they would fit??? Thanks in advance. I want OEM since they are not stiff like the Bilsteins HD and so. Let me know if any of you have bought OEM for your t4r. Thanks

I'm pretty sure all 3rd Gen shocks and springs will work. I know some years had different length springs, but the struts and shocks should all be the same.
That's what I thought, I just want to confirm here. Also I want a soft ride what shock would you recommend how about kyb's???

Not really sure about keeping it OEM. The OEM's on mine were toast so I lifted it.

I just put KYB Gas-a-Just shocks, front and back, on my 2000 SR5 4WD 3.4L which are supposed to provide OEM ride. I used the existing springs which were in pretty good shape and no apparent sag - a little surface rust on one of the front ones. I replaced the front shock mounts (also KYB) as they were pretty corroded and I was concerned regarding integrity. Bought the shocks from Amazon ($187) and front shock mounts locally ($105). Total for the job was $300 without any labor as I did the job myself. You can get fully loaded front shocks (including spring, shock and shock mount) made by Monroe at what seems like a cheap price. Did not go that way as I wanted the KYB shocks.

If you want a soft ride I'd be looking at Monroe's. The SensaTrak isn't a bad shock, it's cheap and it rides nice. I'd be shocked if the dealer actually has two different part numbers for SR5 vs. Limited shocks/struts. I'd call them and ask them for the part #'s, see if their full of sh*t or not.
