Shocks...What kind?

What kind of shocks does my 1994 4Runner need? It's a V6 3.0L 4WD. I purchased two of these...

They are a single eye and rod design. I took them to my mechanic who didn't believe that they would fit, they believe that my 4Runner needs to have a double eyelet. I called two dealerships who said a single eyelet is fine, as did one part store. I'd like to hear it from someone who actually did their own shocks and saw what kind are needed.

Your picture looks like it has the double eyelet - one end needs to have the eye and the other a threaded piece with big washers, rubber donuts and nuts. Or are the rubber donuts painted red on the top above the rubber bellows? On a '90 rRunner both F & R on mine were single eyelet. Maybe picture is just too small for me to view.
