What did you search for to find the roofing material?

hang on let me grab that

so i got it from this guy on a winning bid
http://www.ebay.com/sch/deimos_deals/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

you can find deals that are around $1 a sq foot, but the more you buy the more you save. like mine was .66c a sq ft. because i got 100 sq ft. i have more left and still need to do the roof or under the carpet. prob wont have enough for both but its a heck of a lot better than rattles.

the 1st day it smells like asphalt but after that nothing. so dont worry about any smell.

Thanks! My new tires are a bit louder than I'd like so I'm thinking of doing this to reduce some of the noise. Looks like he doesn't have any for as cheap as you got it, but still not bad for the price.

Keep an eye out for bids. I think most of the stuff is buy now. Or just search sound deadener.

So i placed my order for my rear lift from toytec. Super flex coils, diff drop, pan hard drop. ill be running LC shocks in the rear. along with my already talked about Kings up front.

Looking good bud. I want to do this to mine so I can get rid of the road sounds coming in. I can deal with it but just nice to have less. Next time your down here you'll have to go wheeling with me.

for sure! ill be better prepared!

Do the people around KC want to get together and have a 4Runner day at my place? (those who see this, let those you know from Kansas City area know) it will be around July 22 (monday) that week. BECAUSE I got my rear lift today! Last things i need to do are grab the LC shocks from the auto parts store and ill be ready to install.

My plans are to install my lift with kings 2.5" coil overs up front, Toytec superflex in the rear with the LC shocks to insure they wont blow out because they are longer.

also throw on those amazing 1.5" wheel spacers. I just hope it wont rub too much even with my lift.

Power wash the interior carpet like TXRick and get that looking like new because the prev owner had some nasty spills.

then off to the alignment shop.

So today i was bored. thus to fill my time i decided to work on my lights upfront.

my problems were that the old KC were rusting and looking like crap from water getting inside of them.

so a few weeks i picked up the cheep ones from harbor freight and took parts from both to make a great light.

so today i switched over the bulbs from 55w to 100W each. as well with the new housing i could not bend them down enough to shine on the ground rather then them pointing up in the trees.

this is what i did:

notice this is the part before i started cutting

AFTER

Here you can clearly see that the bolt hangs down a lot lower and will let the light point down further than it did.

So a local member of the 4X4 club put out a recovery call this afternoon and i was more than welcome to lend a hand.
he said he was high centered in sugar city (just a few miles away from my apartment) in his ford ranger.
So i loaded up my shovel and my female friend and we set off to lend this guy a hand. (also a great way to make friends)

I get there and this is what i see, A ford ranger completely stuck and not going anywhere, he was all alone and right next to the highway.

Come to find out he made a few mistakes.
Mistake 1: City boy from LA took a vehicle off road (go ahead judge me on saying people from LA cant off road).
Mistake 2: He was Wheeling in a 2WD ranger with no weight in the back.
Mistake 3: He was alone, no other rigs with him.
Mistake 4: No recovery gear to help himself at all.
Mistake 5: he decided to try this MONSTER BOWL in a long wheelbase vehicle.

Anywhoo. i get there and have him hook up the rope to his while i do it to mine, (i let other hook up to theirs because if something breaks its their fault) Well my mistake was that i didnt check his work and went to pull on it and his skid plate (aftermarket steel plate) cut my strap clean off.

GREAT!!! So i have him re attach it and he goes and loops the now broken strap around his sway bar. learning from my 1st mistake of not checking his work i advise him that is not the best place to put it. (im laughing in my mind) and have him loop it around the lower control arm.

after giving a few tugs i realize that this is going to be a lot harder than i thought because he is much more high centered that i thought and there is no way i am going to be able to pull him out forward, its going to have to be done from behind (thats what she said)

so i move around back and hook it up, give him a pull but he turns his wheel and digs his rear bumper/ bed into the ditch, preventing him from going any further backwards with out much damage to his bumper. as a easy effort we try digging the bumper out. but the ranger is still sitting on the bumper and the dirt so he is still stuck. so back around to the front to pull him forward again this time we get him loose an he is free, but still stuck in the bowl.
welp he was free and managed to drive like hell bouncing up and down trying to get out, and ill be damned if he didn't get stuck again on a water pipe sticking a foot out of the ground. he managed to free himself and almost get out, finally with a little tow out he was free.
The total recovery took about 45 min, turned out to be a much harder recovery than i was thinking. Thanks to the Trusty Toyota!

any recommendations for a trusty snatch/ recovery strap? this is my second recovery in 2 months and more to come. thinking a Keeper brand.

Ive had great experience with my straps from wheelers offroad - good pricing and they have safety webbing sewn in to show any signs of fray / damage.

So what an exciting past 72 hours it has been. So lets start is from the top!

Monday 5pm i finish my final final of the school semester and am not ready to head back home. (im driving from Idaho to Missouri, 18+ hr drive)

6pm i finally head out on the highway excited for all these parts to be put on my rig. driving sucked! I made it to Evanston, WY at 3am and decided i would take a nap because i was getting kinda tired. I managed to find a secluded area away from traffic (not like there is much going on at 3am) so i could get some sleep, well traffic was the least of my worries with trying to sleep. now mind you i have the truck packed full of my stuff, so reclining the seat back is not an option, so imagine this, 6'2" me curled up in the passenger sleep at a gas station trying to get a couple hours of sleep in.
For the life of me i could not get comfortable, i managed to get 2 30 min naps in by resting my legs over the center console and feet near the driver side door storage space. after being so uncomfortable for an hour i decided that id rather drive instead of laying there trying to get some sleep that was never going to happen. so back on the road i go. a few hours into my drive i call up Oreilyee Auto Patrs and have them order a pair of shocks for a 96 LC (P# 34788)so they will be there for pick up when i get home.

Fast forward to 3pm when i finally arrive home! YAY! Also no one is home so its quiet (parents went out of town).

Then after unpacking a bit of my stuff i take my bike out to drive around and piss off the neighbors (i mean let them know im back in town)

So lets get started with the real fun part here. I check out the Kings i picked up from final lap. great stuff! so excited! In order to give them a proper cleaning i decide to run down the road to the shop i work at and say hi to the guys and bust these shocks down using their spring compressor.

Then back to my place with all the parts for a proper cleaning.

Then after i was finished it was too late to take them back to the shop to re assemble them, i was going to have to wait till morning, so why not start the tear down?!!!? I started with the rears because i had all the parts for it. already. Tear down was pretty simple, take the tires off, disconnect the sway bar end links (I ended up pulling the whole thing off later) followed by the pan hard bar bolt on the axle. Then the rest was fairly easy..... (this is where someone yells Bull Shit) ok fine, this is where things got hard.
I had done rear shocks in our 4Runner B4 so it only took about 10 min each side to have them out. (cut up the sleeve with my air cut off wheel, lock on vice grips to the shaft and use a wrench up above to work the nut loose).
dropping the axle after that was pretty simple, springs came right out. This is the part where things got worse! trying to get those big damn things in! forget it!

While i had everything out i decided to clean out the top post of the shock tower mount and enlarge the hole so that a small pebble wont clog the hole and make the shock rust out.

From this point putting one super flex in was easy, by the second. not going to happen until i thought of using the factory jack. I will begin to take complements for how smart i am for doing this in 3....2....1...

Also in order to move the axle enough and not jack any wires up, I had to take a few clips off so that the cables out not get pulled on. (rear locker wires, ABS wires, Parking brake cable, Brake line) I still need to double check these are alright where they are at currently.
From this point I installed my shocks and tried to put the pan hard bar back on. This was not going to happen. Could not for the life of me get this thing back on, I would get about 3/8" off center by jacking up the rear end and using the ratchet strap. but what ever anyone says, Size does matter, 3/8" was enough to not make it happen. So this point im exhausted. Im telling out EXHAUSTED. it was 1 am when i finally called it quits. (remember i drove home all day and the night before.)

It was the only way I could get the rears in with out a spring compressor. Now I can't get the pan hard bar to move back to get the bolt back in. Any ideas?

Are you sending the Kings out for a rebuild or just got them back?

I had one hell of a time getting my superflex coils in by myself. I had to disconnect everything and man handle them in, although I didn't take the panhard bar off since it's a pain to get back on. I almost gave up twice, but finally got them in. Such a pain!

Yep basically a ratchet strap or come along. Only way your gonna get it back in. I have an adjustable and I had to use one when I discos the last time but if it was on the ground and level then I can just bolt it right back in. Unless your running a drop bracket or something your will not be able to do it with out a ratchet strap cause the stock bar with no modification will pull the axle to one side cause it is not in its original position.
