Shoots Build Thread.

Are you sending the Kings out for a rebuild or just got them back?

I had one hell of a time getting my superflex coils in by myself. I had to disconnect everything and man handle them in, although I didn't take the panhard bar off since it's a pain to get back on. I almost gave up twice, but finally got them in. Such a pain!

I took them to the shop where I work to tear them down so I can take them home and clean them. Then back to the shop to reassemble.

Yeah the super flex sucked. Doing a lift on your own is not an easy job. It took me prob 10 hours (feels like). To get everything finished. Tomorrow I am driving to the shop to weld on the pan hard bar drop. Then next door for an alignment.

Let me tell you. PAIN IN THE BUTT CRANKING THOSE COIL OVERS DOWN. So we will see tomorrow if I want to crank them up a bit more.

All in all ill have some more updates and pictures here shortly. Also to test out my new spring and towing, going to buy some jet skis Saturday!

Any CO sucks to crank down. Hazard of the game. And well if you we're still in ID I would have come help you but sorry my friend. MO is just about 1400 miles too far for me lol ;)

Well good thing where I'm at its only 1100 miles from salt lake. So I'll see you tomorrow eh? Thanks bud!

So the next morning( well afternoon, i slept till 1pm) i got out of bed and decided to install the front coil overs. It went in really well to start with. Much easier than the rears that's for sure. A side by side comparison of these new suspension components are unbelievable.

Do you notice on this picture there is no rubber bushing on the lower eyelet bolt, it helps improve handling and less flex vertical flex in that joint, ultimately transferring the energy into the spring and shock.

The fronts went in easy. Remove sway bar links, loosen UCA bolt so that is spins (the bolt not just the nut) then by using the factory jack I cranked it open and used it to force the UCA down and the shock came right out. Very easy.

My problem now is that my spanner wrench is not able to get very far while the coil overs are on the truck because it hits the UCA ball joint or the shock tower. Might have to pull them out, go to the shop and use the spring compressor Then crank the preload down another inch.

So far I've driven it about 5 miles on the new suspension (still haven't hooked up sway bars yet) and holy smokes does she rock back and forth. I thought the ride would be a bit more stiff than what it is but it is very plush. Does not ride like a truck at all. A car with loads of wheel travel is more like it.

Tomorrow my plans follow as this. Install front sway bar end links (broke last one while wheeling) from a 94 4runner because I hear they are longer and fit better for lifts. (I installed my rears today).

Then I have to crank down those coil overs and get an alignment soon. It doesn't drive very bad at all right now. Tracks straight, turns so easy, easier than before.

With my 1.5" wheel spacer I get a little rubbing as half turn and minimal compression from the tire on the fender bolt. I can live with it for now.

So stay tuned for a final picture and updates with this ride.

To come: Power washer VS. Carpet stains. ( more sound mat instillation too)

Oh shiz, I forgot what I did this morning. I welded up my pan hard drop bracket. Yes I did it myself! Only a 1/8" off center (more towards passenger side).

Looks great!!! I knew you would love the Kings. Run a rear sway bar and leave the front off for a while and see how you like it. As for getting the spanner wrench in the tower, it is a pain. I take mine out to adjust. Its just easier :D

So on a final wrap of my lift, here are a few updates
Got my alignment finished, everything was way off but was able to get the spec in really close if not spot on.

I also installed my front sway bar end links from a 94 4Runner rear end links.

So for a Final recap of all the parts i used.
Front.
Tacoma Coil overs from King Suspention
End links from the rear of a 94 4Runner.
Toytec Duff Drop (might not install, Still haven't)
Rear
Toytec Superflex Coils
Land Cruiser Shocks from a 94.
1.5" Wheel Spacers on all 4.

Did you extend the frame bump stops? Those LC shocks are quite a bit longer than OEM and the tiny frame bumps don't engage until long after the LC's have bottomed out.

No I haven't yet. I just keep it on pavement for now but I will flex it and build some drop brackets soon.

So to give an update on my roof rack sand blasting and painting.

There is a very strong protective coating on these things other than paint. To say the least sand blasting the factory paint on them was a *****. i eventually gave up and sanded them by hand smooth because the sand wasn't taking it off.

so here are some paint pictures. I dont have any pictures of them installed yet.

To get back to paddlenbike question about the longer end links.
Of course these links are going to be smaller in diameter because they are from the rear. (might cause to bend, rust, break easier) another difference is that the lower plate sits about half an inch to 3/4 and inch higher up on the shaft, this extending the end link by about that much. But the problem that i ran into was that when everything is loosely installed, the top nut being tightened down, there are not enough threads on the shaft to properly tighten the end link to the sway bar. Everything on the lower end is exactly the same.
(look close in the pictures, you might be able to see.)

after an update on my links, i looked at them yesterday and there is a gap between the rubber bushing and the sway bar. if anyone does this i would ether putting in washers to take up space on the bolt threads so you can tighten everything down properly or just reusing the stock end links, - thats what i should have done, gone with stock.

Stanley Steamer aint got nothen on me!

Call me Stanley Steamer, because; Damn i got these carpets clean!

Who spilled soda on my carpets?

So i think i have found the grossest thing under my passenger seat by the rear heater.... THIS:

EDIT:
CARPETS CAME OUT LOOKING LIKE BRAND NEW. I USED A POWER WASHER, PURPLE POWER FROM WALMART, SCRUB BRUSH AND A SHOP VAC.
